Director of Grants & Compliance Requisition Number 2025-8042 Overview
The Director of Grants & Compliance serves as the primary staff member to identify, apply for and manage reporting and compliance with federal, state and private grants supporting the organization. The Director collaborates with other staff and community partners to create compelling grant proposals and funding requests, track results, produce progress reports and ensure the organization complies with grant requirements. This individual is expected to promote quality, growth, safety and cost-effective management of resources.
ResponsibilitiesGrant Prospecting and Writing – 60% of time:
Effectively identify federal, state, local government and private grant-making entities capable and inclined to support organizational prioritiesWork with organization staff to learn about projects and organizational needs that could be funded with grantsResearch, prepare, write and submit grant proposals and requests to federal, state, local government and private entities according to grant requirements and by established deadlinesCollaborate with other staff to prepare budgets, program briefs and data to support all grant requestsSecure new and renew existing grants totaling approximately $1 million annually with an emphasis on growing grant funding each yearTrack all grant applications and funding outcomesAchieve grant fundraising goals according to established schedules
Grant Management & Reporting – 20% of time:
Develop strategies and solutions and make recommendations about the organization’s strategy for securing grantsCoordinate the grants management process including oversight of pre- and post-award data management, reporting, stewardship and multi-year grant requirementsDevelop and produce grant-making activity and progress reportsPrepare and deliver grant reports according to requirements of the grant-making entities by established deadlines
Compliance Management – 20% of time:
Develop and implement plans to ensure grant programs are complying with necessary policies and proceduresConduct compliance visits at organization sites, as needed, to ensure compliance with grant requirementsMaintain compliance scorecards for each organization site and help staff develop action plans to mitigate or rectify and compliance issuesParticipate in necessary training and stay informed on the latest federal, state and local compliance regulations impacting the organization and provide necessary training and guidance to staff

Meet or exceed annual goalsComply with all company policies and proceduresManage time sensitive tasks on a daily basisWork within established budgetsWork flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekendsProtect confidential informationOther duties as required Qualifications A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or universityTwo or more years of successful experience identifying, writing and managing grants of at least $250,000 annually for a nonprofit organizationExcellent communication skills to include persuasive writing, public speaking and interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational skills and the ability to multitaskAbility to analyze and interpret financial and operational dataA self-starter with the ability to work independentlyAn unquestionable work ethic and the ability to accomplish established goalsA valid driver's licenseThe ability to concentrate for extended periods of time (several hours) without interruptionExperience managing fundraising and sales pipeline data in Salesforce is a plus
