Director of Global NPD & Customization

Position Summary:

The Global Customization Director is a key leadership position within TriMas Packaging. Positioned within our Dispensing global organization and working for NPD Global Team, hand-to-hand with operational and commercial teams. This leader will be responsible for the launch of customized products for our customers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the Global Customization team in all different location around the world.Interact with customers and commercial team to collect all the technical information to implement the customization.Manage the local resource with the General Managers to deliver all tasks and information needed by the customers.Interact with the other 3 departments in the NPD structure (New Platform, Implementation and Metrology) to give and get information to execute the projects.Bring projects to market on time and on cost.Regularly communicate the status of all new Dispensing product launches across the business.For projects that are behind schedule, work with PMO’s to implement recovery plansEnsure practices are in place for Customized introduction to deliver flawless launches into the business.Coordinate the team to create Customer presentations with true to life renderings using the latest 3D CAD software.Manage the team to build complex CAD assemblies, run detailed simulations for Stress Analysis, Mold flow simulations for material flow, and drop test simulation.Support, mentor and train the local teams on the customized products with testing, calibration and measurement.Technical documentation for Operations that is accurate and available in advance of the launch.Ensure the team has effective procedures in place to own the technical aspects of new product launch, including drawings and specifications, design FMEAs.Ensure we have effective practices in place for supplier selection, supplier management and project management for single cavity tool builds, including: on time, on quality and on cost tooling support for procurement team during negotiations with tooling and equipment suppliers.Push the team to follow the FMEA process to reduce RPN risk and ensure that key characteristics critical to manufacturing are appropriately designated.Ensure designs improve product manufacturability.Participate in development of cost sheets and CapEx requests for customized products.When there are issues with product cost in excess of business case targets, prioritize implementation of solutions, working with the operations teams as appropriate.Responsible for all aspects of development, documentation, and support of the manufacturing process from conceptualization through production sustaining all activities.
