Essential Job Responsibilities:

EU and UK Policy Advocacy Strategy: Design and execute a policy advocacy strategy aligned with the business strategy, with a strong emphasis on EU policymaking. This will include active lobbying efforts in Brussels and maintaining a presence as the face of the company's advocacy efforts of high-durability carbon removal, including offtake from international DAC plants.Relationship Building: Build relationships and engaging directly with policy makers, stakeholders, NGOs, industry groups, and think tanks. Play a leading role in developing responses to industry consultations and participate in industry association groups. Cultivate strong relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders in the UK and EU.International Collaboration: Support efforts with international frameworks, including UNFCCC, ICAO and IMO.Support the business development team in their work to secure offtake agreements, project investments, and European and UK supply chain engagement for local and offshore projects.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required.A minimum 10 years of advocacy experience in both legislative and regulatory policymaking.Brings established network in the energy and climate, industry, governments, particularly in the European Region.Deep understanding of national-level, EU, and international-level policymaking processes.Experience working across European countries or in more than one European country on policy.Prior experience in energy, climate change, or sustainability roles.Understanding of relevant political and policy processes, with awareness of current energy transition issues.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following: Emissions reduction technologies, CCS and/or CDR, techno-economics and life-cycle analysis, energy markets, carbon markets, environmental economics, policy analysis.Knowledge of International Maritime Organization emissions policy.Ability to distill complex information into clear takeaways and recommendations.Effective management of external relationships.Skill in working with diverse teams and motivating people to act.Comfort in delivering formal presentations to management and senior stakeholders.Adaptability to ambiguous, ever-changing situations.Fluency in English is required and fluency in a second European language is an asset for this role.
