Director of Engineering

Eaton Corporation has an opening for a Director of Engineering in our Industrial Controls Division (ICD).  The position will be based in the divisional headquarters in Menomonee Falls, WI.

Position Overview:

Reporting the Vice President and General Manager, the Director is responsible for the Research, Development, and Sustaining aspects of product engineering for the entirety of the ICD.  The role has five main objectives: New Product Introductions (NPI), research planning and management, product line support, VAVE, and near-term account conversion through customer intimacy.

This role requires an innovative thinker who can take calculated risks, drive industry thought leadership, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, while not only ensuring fiscal responsibility and revenue generation but customer and stakeholder satisfaction.

 

The headquarters facility houses engineering for multiple product lines as well as marketing, sales, finance, and research. The facility was built in 2012 and boasts an open office layout surrounded by large windows, as well as 50,000+ square feet of onsite state-of-the-art laboratory space, a basketball court, ping-pong room, employee lounge, fitness center, nursing rooms, and grill & patio.  With eight Eaton facilities, four divisions, and more than 2000 employees located in Southeastern Wisconsin, Eaton’s local footprint enables our employees with diverse and capable laboratories, access to manufacturing, and ample opportunities for development and career growth within the region.

 

Essential Functions:
•    Global Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse, high-performing engineering team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.  Invest in a talent ecosystem that optimizes resources and succession pipelines by overseeing a team of 150 people across six engineering design centers across the globe.
•    Revenue Generation: Cultivate a mindset that generates competitive, groundbreaking solutions, prioritize research and development, and implement agile best practices to drive $350 million in revenue growth and capture market share of the components and assembly’s businesses.
•    Stakeholder Collaboration: Team player who works with others to influence goals and satisfy multiple business objectives.  Expand outreach and networking, successfully navigating internal/external partners to build and nurture relationships.
•    Strategic Investments and Portfolio Management: Develop and execute strategic investment plans, manage project portfolios, and allocate resources effectively to maximize ROI by managing a $15 million budget and coordinating efforts across the enterprise.
•    Operational Excellence: Drive efficiency, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives that are sustainable, reduce carbon footprint, and is in compliance with environmental regulations by ensuring people and processes are aligned with Functional Excellence, business goals, and Eaton's Business System (EBS).
 

Required Qualifications:

•    5 years of Engineering Management and 10 years of Engineering Experience
•    Experience with leading global teams.
•    Demonstrated execution and delivery of global product portfolio with preference to digital enabled electro-mechanical products including industrialization.
•    Background in electrical components for IJL, IEC markets preferred.
•    Experience with motor controls and protections, sensor technologies preferred.
•    Experience with model based design, model based system engineering preferred.
•    Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Education:
•    An undergraduate degree is required.  A Master’s degree is preferred.

•    Eaton recognizes this role as a critical position within the corporation and will create a compelling package consisting of a base salary, employee incentive compensation, including long term incentive and complete benefits.

•    The position will be based in the divisional headquarters in Menomonee Falls, WI.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $176249.97 - $258499.96 a year.  This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
