Director of Counseling and Wellness **POSITION DETAILS** The Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (GSPHHP) is dedicated to providing cutting edge graduate degree programs and to identifying, designing, implementing and evaluating public health initiatives that promote social justice. The mission of the school is to promote public health policies to improve the health of populations. GSPHHP faculty members are recognized leaders in health policy, community health interventions, epidemiology and biostatistics, and public health informatics, among other areas. Faculty and students are actively engaged in promoting healthy cities in a healthy world. The GSPHHP is located in a new vertical campus in the heart of Harlem in New York City. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, the Student Psychological Counselor will support the mental health and wellness needs of our students enrolled on our on-campus and on-line programs and will also develop and monitor health-related programming, outreach activities and communications to support a diverse population of adult students **QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required. A current and valid NYS Mental Health Practitioner License required. **Preferred Qualifications:** + A Doctoral degree in Psychology to Include Ph D and Psy.D. programs; or, + A Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling + New York State license as a mental health practitioner (social work, psychology, or mental health counseling). + Experience working with adults (particularly those in life and/or career transitions) + Familiarity with mental health and social services resources in the New York City area. + Experience using electronic or online systems and counseling online populations such as students. + Experience working with a diverse adult student population in a higher education environment. + Provides student counseling services as a member of a team. + Provides psychological counseling to individuals and groups of students + Performs crisis intervention for emergency situations + Performs intake and assessment for personal counseling services + Consults with instructional and administrative staff regarding student mental health issues, may prepare and present outreach initiatives and workshops + Participates in recommending improvements that will impact the counseling center's effectiveness. **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Directs a college counseling center, integrating counseling services into a comprehensive student development experience. - Manages a counseling center providing a variety of services such as individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, workshops, classroom instruction, and academic intervention - Supervises and develops counseling faculty and staff - Develops department budget and manages fiscal affairs - Directs planning, evaluation, assessment and marketing of counseling services - Interfaces with academic departments, other College offices, and student groups to assess program needs and develop appropriate responses - Participates in inter-divisional programs to increase student success and retention - Performs related duties as assigned.
