**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Director of Nursing Operations has overall accountability for the following areas: Staffing, bed control, Nursing productivity, Patient Throughput, House Supervisors, Float Pool, Direct Admit, ISS, OP Heart Center, Diabetes Education, and others as determined by the CNO. The Director of Nursing Operations has the responsibility to coordinate/facilitate action steps/direct referrals/etc. of clinical issues and expected outcomes. The Director of Nursing Operations coordinates the needs of the Nursing Administrative office through budget planning and overall supervision of practice and administrative issues.
You will accept primary responsibility for Special Program assignment by CNO. Examples include:
oRegulatory preparation/processes
oProcedural development assistance with new services.
oNEC presentations as well as initiates action from issues discovered, independently.
oWhen requested, serves as a resource/contact for other areas of the organization.
Independently seeks opportunities to identify and actively streamline inefficiencies in nursing areas through action plans and follow-up with directors in involved areas.
+ You will coordinate/prioritize plans through the CNO to ensure organizational objectives are aligned.
+ You will chair the Nurse Staffing Council
+ You will collect data for the staffing indicators and reports at the Nurse Staffing Council on a quarterly basis
+ You will be a member of the Inpatient and Outpatient Satisfaction Team
+ You will be responsible for the 24-hour operation of staffing/bed control
+ You will serve as Administrator on call as assigned
+ You will approve all agency/supplemental staff and bonuses 24 hours a day.
+ You will ensure that supervisory staff follows the correct policies to initiate the use of supplemental staff.
+ You will prepare capital, revenue, and expense budgets annually
+ You will collect sitter data and reports daily to the accounting
+ You will serve as the Facility Administrator for AAS Scheduler
+ You will ensure the nursing departments adhere to budget projections by reviewing daily operating reports
+ You will maintain productivity within acceptable benchmarks and provide variance information to CNO
+ You will review and support Nursing Directors in developing and updating department Facility Position Controls
+ You will support and act as a resource for Department Directors when the need is identified.
+ You will act as a liaison for the CNO when immediate contact with the CNO is unavailable.
+ You will visit department/staff unit meetings as requested/necessary to improve visibility and communication with the staff.
+ You will maintain/initiate frequent updates to CNO routinely and on an as-needed basis 24 hours a day.
+ You will present in a leadership role, the ambition to positively coordinate the talents of multiple Directors and staff to maximize work outcomes and improve patient care.
+ You will identify trends, patterns, and issues necessitating follow-up and resolution
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support
+ Registered Nurse must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
+ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
+ Master's Degree preferred
+ 5+ years of experience in an acute care hospital
+ Department Director level experience with working/application of knowledge of PI theory required.
+ Current with JCAHO/Medicare/regulatory agency requirements and Texas State Board rules and regulations for the practice of Nursing.
