Are you a seasoned accounting leader ready to make a strategic impact in a dynamic automotive organization? Robert Half is seeking a Director of Accounting for a long-term contract opportunity with our client in Plymouth, Michigan. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead financial operations, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, and provide critical insights that drive business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead the preparation and review of consolidated financial statements, ensuring full compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory standards.
+ Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, maintaining accuracy and timeliness in reporting.
+ Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
+ Manage internal and external audits, addressing findings and implementing corrective actions.
+ Deliver financial analysis and strategic recommendations to senior leadership to support planning and decision-making.
+ Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial consultants.
+ Drive special projects, including system implementations and process improvements.
+ Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
+ Stay current on evolving accounting standards and regulatory changes, ensuring ongoing compliance.
What We’re Looking For:
+ Proven experience in a senior accounting leadership role, ideally within the automotive or manufacturing sector.
+ Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
+ CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

Requirements • Strong expertise in auditing, financial reporting, and U.S. GAAP compliance.
• Proven experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and internal control frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to lead month-end close processes and oversee account reconciliations.
• Proficiency in account analysis and financial statement preparation.
• Hands-on experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Excellent leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and managing accounting teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to support strategic decision-making.
• Solid communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
