Description A fast-growing retail company based in New York City is seeking a Director of Accounting to join their expanding finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role within a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment. Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Controller, the Director of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, with a strong emphasis on inventory, cost accounting, and COGS. The ideal candidate has a blend of public and private accounting experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a passion for process improvement and team development. Key Responsibilities: + Oversee the month-end and year-end close process, including general ledger management + Manage and analyze inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) + Assist with cash forecasting and working capital management + Prepare and review internal financial reports and ensure GAAP compliance + Support ongoing NetSuite optimization and integration + Lead and mentor accounting team members; support hiring as team grows + Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, FP& A, and supply chain teams + Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules + Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls Requirements • Proven expertise in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management • Experience with auditing processes and procedures • Proficiency in managing budget processes and forecasting • Understanding of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and its impact on financial statements • Ability to prepare and analyze Cash Flow Forecasts • Experience with Journal Entries and general ledger management • Proficiency in using NetSuite or similar accounting software • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and its application in an apparel manufacturing context • Familiarity with SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements in a manufacturing setting.
