**Job Description**
**The Director of Student Success and Progression** provides strategic leadership in fostering a welcoming and professional environment where all medical students can engage with the Office of Medical Student Affairs (OMSA) without fear of reprisal. The Director plays a crucial role in ensuring student success by developing one-on-one personalized action plans, assessing student progress toward MD program completion, and overseeing OMSA’s accreditation and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
The Director is responsible for supervising and developing the OMSA team, advocating for medical students, and collaborating with stakeholders across the Department of Medical Education and the broader institutional community to enhance student support and success.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor?s degree plus 5 years of medical education work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Master?s degree desirable
+ 5 years of experience working in a student affairs functional area, or similar area.
+ Student success and academic progression management experience required
+ Strong team player who promotes cross-team collaboration and inspires team members to work together and contribute.
+ Strong communications, presentation and writing skills.
+ Strong analytical skills.

**Responsibilities**
**Oversight of Student Success & Academic Progression**
+ Identify and implement process improvements to streamline student support and enhance the overall student experience
+ Lead the systematic tracking and monitoring of student academic progress, ensuring timely intervention for students with academic challenges and / or professional behavior issues
+ Equip faculty, staff, and advisors with necessary knowledge and resources to support students proactively and effectively while maintaining compliance with academic rules and regulations
+ Provide formative and summative academic performance data of all students across phases of the MD program to Learning Community advisors, leadership and other stakeholders as needed
+ Oversee and strategize academic resources and schedule adjustment while guiding students through required steps in the process
+ Maintain accurate records of student progress data in compliance with relevant rules and regulations, and present data and reports as needed
+ Oversee student registration and completion of USMLE and remediation NBME examinations;
+ Provide administrative oversight of the Medical Student Promotions Committee, ensuring that student progression and graduation align with standards of academic performance and professional behavior
+ Collaborate with faculty, staff, and the Promotions Committee to develop proactive strategies, resources, and programming to support students facing academic challenges
+ Communicate the implications of Promotions Committee decisions on student progress
**Individualized Student Counseling & Student Success Programming**
+ Counsel and track students engaging in scholarly year, dual degrees, external degrees, and other unique educational experiences that require an exit and reentry planning
+ Counsel students experiencing academic or personal challenges through options including alternative academic plans, delayed graduation
+ Provide guidance to students in attaining personal and academic leaves and/or withdrawal from the School in addition to assuring timely preparation of documentation
+ Develop and implement individualized remediation plans for students on monitored and serious academic status
+ Partner with the Academic Coaching team to develop and deliver curricular content threaded through the ASCEND and legacy curricula
+ Offer afternoon, evening, or weekend availability as needed to accommodate students' needs
**Oversight of Continuous Quality Improvement and Accreditation in OMSA**
+ Partner with the Director of Quality, Compliance and Accreditation in the division of Medical Education Administration to oversee OMSA’s continuous quality improvement (CQI) and accreditation efforts
+ Serve as a subject matter expert in policy development, ensuring all processes and practices adhere to state, federal, and accreditation standards
+ Collaborate with Medical Education leadership on LCME and Middle States accreditation initiatives
+ Collaborate with the Director of Quality, Compliance, and Accreditation to lead OMSA CQI Working Group, utilizing internal and national data to evaluate programmatic goals and objectives
**Leadership and Staff Development**
+ Supervise and develop direct reports ensuring efficient operations and high-quality student support services
+ Act as a key liaison between OMSA and key offices, including Student Trainee Mental Health, Enrollment Services, Disability, Student Health Center, Academic IT, and external stakeholders, to provide holistic student support
+ Represent OMSA in high-level meetings, including but not limited to Executive Oversight Committee; ASCEND chairs, ASCEND phase 2 committee and LCME readiness committee
+ Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership

**Compensation Statement**
Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $86772 - $130159 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
