**JOB SUMMARY**
The Human Resources Director provides leadership and management consistent with institutional mission and goals in the areas of recruiting faculty and staff; training and developing personnel; equal employment opportunity and affirmative action; employee/labor relations; employee compensation and benefits; workforce planning; human resource information system and records; and legal compliance.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Provide leadership, consultation, guidance and service in the areas of: recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits, training and development, employee/labor relations, grievance/harassment/compliance matters, equal opportunity and affirmative action, disability accommodations, and employment separations.
+ Assist in translating the University’s strategic plan into Human Resources strategic and operational plans.
+ Formulate, review, and revise faculty and staff personnel policies and procedures to comply with appropriate legal requirements and promote employee satisfaction and retention. Direct the implementation and interpretation of personnel policies and procedures.
+ Direct the efforts of ensuring that the benefits and compensation programs for University employees are cost effective, equitable and competitive in the marketplace, including but not limited to support of a University-wide benefits committee.
+ Plan, establish and maintain a formal program of wage and salary administration to include a job evaluation program, salary survey collection, wage and salary plan design, compensation plan research, support and administration, salary review process, and including any merit increase administration (approval process, tracking results, communication to employees and evaluation of annual program results).
+ Establish and maintain a strong front-facing customer service philosophy and reputation for the department amongst campus constituents.
+ Maintain compliance with affirmative action programs; file EEO data as required; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO/AA regulations.
+ Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
+ Model commitment to diversity and inclusion in employment.
+ Serve as liaison to collective bargaining on campus, including contract negotiation and administration.
+ Provide guidance and assistance to management and employees in resolving sensitive employee relations matters, including employee counseling and conflict resolution support.
+ Provide responsive and enriching training and staff development programs.
+ Maintain a performance management program and related training, which includes annual staff evaluations and managerial/supervisory accountability.
+ Develop, maintain, maximize the use of the University’s human resource information system in the efficient and compliant administration of University policy and programs, and for external reporting requirements.
+ Manage the Human Resources budget and department, including the supervision of staff.
+ Strong knowledge of DEIS initiatives and training.
+ Oversee other campus supervisory training programs as needed.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS**
Provides HR support and services to all members of the University community as requested. Has frequent contact with internal and external organizations in matters related to Human Resources.
This position reports to the: Vice President for Finance and Administration
This position supervises 3-5 employees.
This position supervises 3-5 student workers.
**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES**
+ Ability to conceptualize, develop, and administer a variety of human resource programs
+ Knowledge and experience in handling matters related to employment law compliance
+ Ability to analyze, organize and meet deadlines on HR related projects
+ Effective communicator, negotiator, problem solver, and team leader
+ Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data in a professional manner
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, individually and in groups

+ Experience in large-scale project implementation of HR systems
**MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPECTATIONS**
+ Bachelor’s Degree or sufficient work experience demonstrating ability to successfully perform as human resources leader
+ Five to eight years of progressively responsible human resources or employment law experience
+ Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, individually and in groups
+ 3+ years’ experience applying personnel practices to conform with all federal, state and local laws on non-discrimination, accommodations and fair pay, including but not limited to FLSA, ADA, FMLA and Title VII
+ 1+ years professional working experience developing, implementing and auditing Affirmative Action plans
+ Prior experience developing or implementing, or reviewing compliance of, an HRIS system or applicant tracking system
+ Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required
+ 1+ years professional working experience developing, negotiating or implementing collective bargaining agreement(s)
**PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPECTATIONS**
+ Familiarity with Workday and multiple HRIS platforms
+ 3+ years supervisory experience
+ Experience working in HR in higher education setting
+ 2+ years professional working experience developing, negotiating or implementing collective bargaining agreement(s)
+ 2+ years professional working experience developing, implementing and auditing Affirmative Action plans
**WORKING CONDITIONS/EQUIPMENT**
Must be able to perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation:
+ Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
+ Ability to travel on and off campus locations.
This is a full time, 1.0 FTE, exempt position, 12 months a year.
**Compensation and Benefits:**
**Pay Range:** $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually
