Employment Type: Permanent Staff (EHRA NF) Vacancy ID: NF0008751 Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 Position Summary/Description: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Director for Accounting Shared Services to join our dynamic and supportive team. Reporting to the Senior Director for Finance, this role is crucial in strategic planning, oversight, implementation, and evaluation of shared services goals and procedures. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in financial operations, identifying opportunities for process improvements within the College’s accounts payable, procurement, and travel functions, contributing to overall success and efficiency. The Director will provide direct management to a team of accountants within the Accounting Shared Services team, overseeing budget, expense, and resource allocation for approximately 45 units, including academic departments, centers, and programs. Additionally, this position serves as a guiding force and subject matter expert for accounting and administrative staff across the College, aiding unit staff during process, personnel, and system changes to ensure seamless transitions with minimal disruption. Other vital duties include managing the transition and onboarding of new departments into shared services, facilitating regular accounting meetings with departmental stakeholders, and promoting a culture of collegiality and clear communication by circulating information from accounting services across the major campus unit ( MCU ). Education and Experience: Extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures regulating the administration of sponsored projects. Experience building and managing teams including hiring, training, prioritizing, organizing and scheduling work assignments. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PeopleSoft. Essential Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to write precisely and clearly. Thorough knowledge of and skill in applying generally accepted accounting principles. Prior experience in a supervisory role and working with cross functional teams.
