**Position Specific Description**
NextEra Energy Resources (NEER) is seeking a dynamic, innovative leader to establish and lead our new Renewable Technology team. As **Director of Renewable Technology** , you will **drive innovation, process optimization, and value creation** across our utility-scale wind and solar portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to shape how NEER develops projects, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the industry by scaling high-impact solutions—from process improvements to cutting-edge technology integration.
**What You’ll Do:**
• **Build & Lead** a small, high-impact team serving as a center of excellence for optimizing NEER’s wind and solar portfolio.
• **Drive Innovation** by identifying, vetting, and implementing new technologies, process improvements, and automation.
• **Enhance Portfolio Performance** by improving project returns, accelerating timelines, and optimizing system performance.
• **Collaborate Across Teams** , acting as an internal consultant to pinpoint high-value opportunities.
• **Influence Senior Leadership** by delivering clear, data-driven recommendations to prioritize and implement impactful initiatives.
• **Lead Change Management** to ensure seamless adoption of new processes and technologies through effective training and engagement.
• **Measure & Improve** by tracking solution effectiveness and continuously refining strategies.
**What You Bring:**
• **10+ years in renewable energy** , with expertise in utility-scale wind and solar.
• Master’s degree preferred (e.g., Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field).
• **Relentless drive for continuous improvement** , always seeking smarter, faster, and better ways to create value.
• Proven ability to **lead cross-functional teams** and execute complex, high-value initiatives.
• **Deep industry knowledge** of emerging technologies, best practices, and trends.
• Strong **analytical mindset** and data-driven approach to problem-solving.
**Job Overview**
Employees in this role are responsible for leading and coordinating key functions of a project such as financial feasibility analysis, engineering/design, project legal review and financial negotiations. The position plays a key role in building strategic relationships and executing major contracts necessary to support the Company’s generating business growth initiatives. This role reviews and oversees the development of key project agreements. This role is responsible for all aspects of the business deal and will be involved in the closure of multiple projects.
**Job Duties & Responsibilities**
+ Translates company financial, commercial, risk management, technical and operating goals into effective contracting strategies and objectives
+ Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external strategic partners
+ Assembles and leads internal cross functional, multi-disciplined teams through the solicitation and negotiation processes
+ Provides overall leadership and drive key decisions during negotiations
+ Delivers on contracting objectives and proforma requirements
+ Delivers contracts that position the internal project execution team for maximum success
+ Manages the contracting budget and schedule for assigned projects
+ Provides periodic updates to and interact with senior management
+ Performs other job-related duties as assigned
**Required Qualifications**
+ High School Grad/GED
+ Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
+ Experience: 10+ years
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's - Business Administration
+ Master's - Business Administration
