What is the Opportunity?

The Director will lead the US Risk Policy effort, including the establishment, ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of the US Risk Policy Review Committee (PRC). The Director will play a lead role in driving consistency and alignment in risk policies and policy governance practices between RBC Enterprise, CUSO, and RIHC legal entities, in line with regulatory expectations.

What will you do?

Leads the development of US GRM’s Policy Review Committee and act as secretary for the Committee, including:

the agenda for, frequency of, and preparation for committee meetings;

the quality, quantity and timeliness, to the extent possible, of the information that goes to the committee, including ensuring presentation guidelines are met;

the time is sufficiently allocated during committee meetings for effective discussion of agenda items and key issues and concerns; and

the mandate and the effectiveness of each committees is assessed, and improvements are implemented as required.

Provides CUSO Risk Policy Subject Matter Expertise including review of policy documents as required.

Manages CUSO risk policy administration including the Policy Management Authority for GRM, USA, managing publication of CUSO GRM Policy Documents to the Policy & Procedure library, and managing the CUSO GRM Policy Bulletin.

Manages the CUSO risk management committee structure; ensuring appropriate governance over changes.

Leads the annual review of the CUSO Risk Management Framework.

Drives consistency and best practices between RBC Enterprise, CUSO and RIHC legal entities.

Keeps abreast of regulatory developments, industry best practices and leading trends in policy governance practices.

Responds to regulatory reporting, Internal Audit and information requests, surveys as required (e.g. Federal Reserve, OCC, DTCC etc.)

What do you need to succeed?

Strong organizational awareness, preferably with solid knowledge of US risk policy governance standards & processes; minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills; requires frequent contacts with senior executives. 

Drive best-in-class execution, with a proactive and committed focus on quality, accuracy and timeliness; exceptional attention to details.

Solution-focused mindset with an ability to make logical or implied connections from a vast array of information.

Ability to develop and/or maintain relationships across multiple stakeholder groups, including RBC senior management.

Ability to manage well under pressure and tight deadlines; works well with changing priorities in a dynamic small team environment.

Ability to improve processes to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $160,000 - $250,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
