Primary Responsibilities

The Director of Transportation Logistics will be responsible for driving strategic leadership, vision, and operational excellence for the Inbound Transportation team. This role will oversee financials along with managing vendor relationships and leading, mentoring and developing a team. Essential Functions

DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership, Vision, and Team Management

Develop and execute a cohesive strategy for Inbound Transportation and brokerage teams in alignment with company goals. Continuously optimize transportation and brokerage operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team that fosters a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.

Vendor and Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, brokers, and other partners.Negotiate contracts and manage service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure performance and cost management.

Financial Management

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and P&L for the departments under your responsibility. Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality service.

Operational Excellence

Manage day-to-day operations for inbound transportation to ensure compliance and efficient movement of goods. Utilize technology solutions to improve operational visibility and decision-making.Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated and seamless operations.Maintain effective communication across all levels of the organization.Other duties and projects as assigned.

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Ability to manage various teams and provide leadership effectively in a dynamic environment.Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner both verbally and written. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Strong analytical skills.Successful negotiator and ability to influence change. Ability to synthesize data and provide clear, concise recommendations. Strong relationship management skills and ability to provide guidance to higher management levels internally and externally. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Demonstrate attention to detail and sense of urgency. Ability to manage a wide array of tasks simultaneously and often with minimal direction. Ability to transfer information gained through analysis to fact based, action-oriented presentations for delivery to internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and relevant technology. Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or equivalent is preferred. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Expertise in transportation brokerage and comprehensive knowledge of the logistics industry.
