Inotiv is looking for a Director of Toxicology to join our team in Mount Vernon, Indiana near Evansville. This position is responsible for accuracy and integrity of all work performed. Responsible for the direction of broad programs affecting the research staff, making all decisions independently or after consultation with management.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain sufficient facilities, equipment and personnel are available for evaluation of assigned problems.
Maintain research procedures are conducted in a manner to provide verification of all activities.
Supervise Toxicologists and/or Study DirectorsReview reports to maintain data is accurately reported in a scientifically sound manner.
Review procedures and methods to maintain evaluations are conducted in a scientifically sound manner.
Review and approve protocols to be assured the work can be conducted according to protocol requirements and the adequate personnel are available for the evaluation.
Maintain knowledge regarding new developments, including government regulations, and initiate procedures and programs to assure efficient scientific evaluations in compliance with appropriate regulatory authorities.
Perform pertinent administrative and supervisory responsibilities relevant to the research operation.
Review and approve all articles for publication and news releases emanating from the research area.
Act as interface with all regulatory agencies affecting the research area.
Perform general responsibilities common to all research management positions.
Participate in in-house training programs for the technical staff.
Maintain confidential information.
Interact with the community and employees.
Support and participate in other company initiatives as directed by management.
Perform Study Director duties as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and experience
Ph.D. graduate of an accredited college or university. Possesses both broad fundamental and detailed specialized knowledge in the area of toxicology.10 + years in toxicology and has managerial experience.DABT certification is preferred.Skills and Abilities
Strong organizational skills; thorough and given to detail.Demonstration of broad fundamental and detailed specialized knowledge of federal regulations and applicable quality systems.Performance of many types of long-term assignments with little or no supervision.General
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.Ability to read, write and understand oral and/or written instructionsAble to read and interpret animal identifications, dose groups, and color codes.Must have a good mobility to cover the different buildings.Manual dexterity to catch, hold, and dose animals.Manual dexterity to use a calculator and/or computer.Bend and lift cages, animals, and feed sacks to height of 5 feet; weights up to 50 pounds.Working Conditions
Frequent involvement with radiant/electrical energy, solvents, grease, oil, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, electro-mechanical hazards, flammable materials, and biohazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological materials (which may include HIV positive specimens), immunization to diseases may be a required.Mantoux TB test with negative result is required.Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask and/or respirator, and safety glasses as required.Will be exposed to animal dander, bites, scratches, etc., and material associated with animal husbandry.The noise level is usually moderate to loud requiring ear protection.Tools, Equipment, & Other Resources Used

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
