General Summary:

The Director of Technical Product Management leads the product team for a domain or multiple domains within the Technology organization. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing the product strategy across multiple product areas in the Supply Chain Domain, ensuring they align with the overall business goals of the organization. The Director of Technical Product Management plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between technology and business, leading a high-performing product team, and driving the successful launch and adoption of innovative products that enhance the customer experience. Additionally, they are key to establishing a best-in-class product process, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Mentor and coach the team by developing individual team members’ skills, provide career guidance and empower them to make decisionsManage performance by setting goals and providing continuous feedback for the team to learn and growFoster a collaborative environment and strong culture by bringing the team together and ensuring open communication across the team and stakeholders Work one on one with each team member to help them learn, grow, and become better at Product Management and develop a world class Product teamLead the team through modernization effortsDefine the long-term roadmap for multiple product lines, developing a strategic roadmap with input from the team and help the team to prioritize features using a standard frameworkIdentify opportunities for technology to enable business by gaining a deep understanding of the business areas you supportEnsure alignment between your product areas roadmap to the overall business objectives Manage stakeholders by collaborating and communicating the product vision, roadmap, and progress to key stakeholders    Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure a smooth product executionGather feedback across teams to identify what is going well and what could be improved Track key performance metrics (KPIs) across the area and analyze the product data to find areas for improvement Stay up to date on the latest technical trends and innovations related to your product domain and product managementMaintain a strong understanding of the technical aspects of your product area to make informed decisionsHelp the team work through and troubleshoot any challenges that ariseContinuously up your skillset in the product area and consistently coach the team to up their skillsets as well Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Defines the product vision, strategy, and roadmap across multiple product areasExperienced in developing product roadmaps aligned with business goals and market opportunitiesAbility to simplify and communicate complex things so they are easy to understandAbility to work alongside and present to senior managementStrong ability to develop and maintain relationships cross functionally throughout the organizationDeep understanding of the retail industry and current technology trends. With a strong understanding of technology acumen (software development methodologies, common technologies – APIs, etc) as well as business acumenStrong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and the product development lifecycle (PDLC)Recruit, build, and lead a high-caliber team of Technical Product Managers (TPdMs). Empower technical product managers to take ownership, make data-driven decisions, and become product leaders themselves. Coach and train individual team members, identifying their strengths and providing opportunities for growth. Facilitate open communication and collaboration within the product team and across cross-functional teams (engineering, design, marketing).Deeply understand customer needs and translate them into actionable technical requirements. Possess a strong grasp of emerging technologies and their potential impact on the retail landscape. Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success Champion a data-driven approach to product management, leveraging analytics in decision-makingPrior experience with moving to a new WMS systemStrong knowledge of Retail Supply Chains

Work Experience &/or Education:

Experience with moving to a new WMS system10+ years of experience in technical product management7+ years of experience managing teams of product managers, and partnership with Director-level engineering and UX stakeholders.Passion for retail and 5+ years retail experience Strong Technical knowledge with experience in Technical Product Management practices and agile software developmentStrength as a people leader with a proven track record of successfully leading high performing product teamsBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration Need help finding the right job?
