JOB SUMMARY
The Regional Tax Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all tax strategy, compliance, and operations within the EMEA designated region. This role ensures adherence to local and international tax laws while optimizing the company’s tax position and mitigating risks. The Regional Tax Director collaborates closely with the Senior Director, Global Tax, to align regional tax strategies with broader global objectives and works cross-functionally with internal finance, business teams and external consultants.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Regional Tax Strategy & Planning
+ Develop and execute tax strategies tailored to the specific regulatory and economic environment of the region.
+ Identify opportunities for tax efficiency and risk mitigation while ensuring full compliance with tax regulations.
+ Support regional business initiatives by advising on tax implications for transactions, investments, and operational changes.
+ Assist with tax due diligence and analysis of M&A, as needed.
+ Assist with cash repatriation planning and strategy for designated region.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
+ Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns, financial statement disclosures, and compliance with local, regional, and national tax regulations.
+ Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation, assessing potential impacts on the business and implementing necessary adjustments.
+ Oversee transfer pricing documentation, ensuring compliance with tax policies and local requirements.
+ Oversee BEPS 2.0 analysis and compliance for designated region.
+ Oversee indirect tax compliance for designated region.
Risk Management & Governance
+ Identify, assess, and proactively manage tax risks within the region.
+ Develop and implement internal tax policies and controls to ensure compliance and efficiency.
+ Collaborate with external advisors and auditors to manage tax audits, disputes, and regulatory reviews.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Partner with finance, legal, and operations teams to integrate tax strategies into overall business planning.
+ Work closely with the Senior Director, Global Tax to ensure alignment of regional and global tax strategies.
+ Engage with external consultants, regulatory agencies, and industry groups to stay informed on tax developments and best practices.
Leadership & Team Development
+ Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regional tax team.
+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement, compliance, and knowledge-sharing within the organization.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; CPA or equivalent or Master’s preferred.
+ 8+ years of progressive tax experience, with a strong focus on regional tax laws, compliance, and strategy. 3+ years of prior experience leading a team of tax professionals.
+ Experience in multinational manufacturing or consumer goods organizations is preferred.
+ Strong understanding of regional tax regulations, international tax principles, and transfer pricing.
+ Strong understanding of IFRS and U.S. GAAP including preparation/review of statutory reporting and conversions to U.S. GAAP.
+ Familiarity with BEPS 2.0 preferred.
+ Experience with M&A, including tax due diligence and analysis, a plus.
+ Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and drive strategic tax initiatives.
+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
+ Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
