Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $159,400.00 - $265,600.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

NextGear Capital is the largest independent inventory finance company in North America.  We are a member of the Cox Automotive family.  We are located in beautiful Carmel, IN; consistently rated in the top ten of Best Places to Live in America.  We are seeking a Director, Software Engineering to join our Product & Engineering leadership team. This position will identify solutions to daily challenges, inspire and lead our engineering development team, work closely with the other members of the Product & Engineering leadership team as well as key business stakeholders.

Seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Software Engineering to lead and manage our Dealer Operations software development teams. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality software products and composed solutions, building and mentoring engineering teams, and aligning technical strategy with business goals. 

  

Responsibilities: 

  

Leadership and Management: 

Lead and inspire a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. 

Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team. 

Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment in partnership with Product Management 

Ensure the team adheres to industry best practices and standards. 

Manage and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines and goals. 

Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members. 

  

Technical Strategy: 

Define and implement a long-term technical vision and roadmap aligned with the company's strategic objectives. 

Adopt appropriate technologies, tools, and standards to deliver quality in meeting business needs. 

Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the software development landscape. 

Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of the company's software systems. 

  

Collaboration: 

Partner with Product Management peer to deliver on priorities for the   Client Servicing Release Train. 

Collaborate closely with product management, architecture , and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of software products. 

Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to drive alignment and achieve common goals. 

Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. 

  

Budget and Resource Management: 

Develop and manage the Release Train budget. 

Allocate resources effectively to meet project needs. 

Identify and implement opportunities to optimize cost and maximize resources. 

  

Recruitment and Retention: 

Attract, recruit, and retain top engineering talent. 

Build a diverse and inclusive engineering team. 

  

Qualifications: 

  

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 10 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as master's degree and 8 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 5 years' experience in a related fields; or 22 years' experience in a related field. 

10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role. 

Proven leadership experience in managing integration components, API integrations, and integration platforms. 

Strong familiarity with Salesforce, particularly with Lightning Web Components and utilizing native Salesforce functionalities 

Demonstrated ability to lead and unite globally distributed teams across multiple locations, fostering collaboration and alignment. 

Expertise in delivering services and capabilities consumed by other teams, programs, or business units. 

Extensive experience in working and collaborating across cross-functional teams and programs to deliver solutions within a composed solution environment. 

Experience presenting and reporting engineering metrics and KPIs at executive level Experience leading teams to run, own and build scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-based solutions (Microsoft Azure preferred).
