Director Sales Operations

 

The Director Sales Operations supports/participates in the development of strategy and implementation related to the Goodyear Retail field organization. The incumbent has sales and P&L responsibilities for Goodyear's Retail locations. He/She will develop an annual sales plan in support of organizational strategy/objectives. This role will manage the activities of the Goodyear Field organization to ensure successful execution (including budgeting/planning).

 

This associate will collaborate/work closely with Retail functional areas (Store Support, Finance, Human Resources [HR], Marketing, Merchandising, Pricing, Business Development, Inventory Management and Information Technology). The Director Sales Operations will participate in strategy/feedback regarding field communications, incentives, performance management and training requirements. This position will establish goals, standards and metrics for the Goodyear Field organization - Measuring/monitoring improvement, sharing best practices, continually evolving business requirements. The incumbent will train/develop associates to drive results. He/She will work with management team on field structure/strategy.

 

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

Development of Team: Sets/Maintains a culture where the development of the team is a primary responsibility of field leadership - Where a trained, positive, engaged team will drive successful financial results. This includes the development of a "team" environment on our stores (how we work and how we serve the customer). The Director of Operations Retail is expected to have strong succession and development plans for their direct reports, as well as ensuring succession and development plans are in place and practiced throughout the field organization.

 

Brand and Customer Experience: Define/Evolve the strategy for Goodyear Retail's branded customer experience culture (including customer value proposition, expectations and practices) for people, facilities service and sales, as well as the tools,  metrics and reporting.

 

Strategic Planning and Development: Lead all functional areas to implement organizational strategy and plans. Create a culture that provides exceptional customer service at all levels. Create an environment where Goodyear is the brand and employer of choice. Maintain in-depth and complete knowledge of competitor activity. Analyze intelligence data and provide recommendations for future action plans. Develop brand and name awareness. Overall accountability for compliance with company policies/procedures and regulatory compliance.

 

Organizational Leadership: Drive results through guidance and leadership to the General Manager's (GMs) - Thus achieving or exceeding AOP (annual operating plan). Monitor/Measure execution of key processes identified by the Akron Leadership team. Responsible for overall Retail operations P&L (profit and loss). Develop/Execute recovery and action plans. Identify/implement best practices across the organization.

 

Communication: Translate, communicate and drive organizational messages to ensure execution throughout the organization. Act as a leader to Goodyear GMs, DMRs (District Manager Retail) and Retail Management on areas such as store support, HR, advertising, marketing, operations, real estate, pricing, finance and market activities. Assess market-level competitive dynamics and utilize information to determine strategy/recommendations back to business leadership. Monitor audit reports to identify trends, improve processes, administer corrective action and put controls in place.

 

KEY EXPERIENCE

Bachelors’ degree; Masters’ degree preferred. 12 or more years of experience managing multi-unit automotive service providers. Proven ability to develop annual operating plans with clearly defined objectives. Proven and consistent track record for meeting and exceeding operating targets. Ability to deliver on plan and achieve goals.

Talent oriented with results focused management. Be able to travel to field locations 50-75%.
