Job Description:

What Is in It for You:

Reporting to the Managing Director, Portfolio Management, the Director, Portfolio Management manages the execution of private asset allocations for SLC. Leading a team of two, the Director is accountable for ensuring that allocations are executed in accordance with all policy requirements and result in fair, equitable and appropriate opportunities for all SLC clients, including the Sun Life General Account. To support this mandate the role has direct engagement with SLC Front Office teams including private fixed income, commercial mortgages and derivatives while also engaging with areas in Sun Life including Asset Liability Management and Risk.

What You Will Do:

Manage the allocation of private assets to eligible SLC clients in accordance with all Policies.

Represent the General Account in the review of new asset opportunities, ensuring suitability and alignment with SLF business needs.

Coordinate with SLC Front Office teams to manage sourcing pipelines and prepare the General Account for activity.

Lead the execution of allocations within General Account segments to align with business demand.

Support execution of private asset funding and currency hedging activity as required by the General Account.

Monitor sourcing and allocation activity and report on the effectiveness of allocations to various SLC and Sun Life teams, including to the SLC Allocation Committee.

Coordinate support for Audit requests, Policy/Operating Guideline reviews, or other Governance items as necessary.

Provide coaching to direct reports to ensure future leaders are being identified and developed; provide opportunities to stretch high potential/future leaders.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

10+ years of experience in the investment industry, ideally in a role with exposure to liability driven investments.

Pursuing or completed CFA designation is preferred.

Knowledge of broad asset classes, particularly public and private fixed income, and liability driven investment approaches is beneficial.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong process management and organization skills.

Problem solving with demonstrated ability to facilitate fair outcomes for multiple parties.

Salary Range

100,000/100 000 - 157,500/157 500

The Base Pay range is for the primary location of the job.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
