What you will be doing
Manage the pharmacy government relation's strategies for the company in achieving overall government relations objectives. Coordinate efforts in planning and conducting the company’s lobbying efforts. Research legislative/regulatory issues of relevance to the company and communicate the findings of this research to various legislative/regulatory bodies for the purpose of advocating in the interest of the company. Participate in various industry lobbying coalitions and legislative workgroups and taskforces. Track, analyze and form position statements on relevant legislation that impacts the company’s pharmacy business.
The position’s preferred base is in Boise, ID but is open to our other corporate locations in Pleasanton, Plano & Phoenix.
Main responsibilities
Develop and implement programs and strategies to support the company's pharmacy objectives as it relates to government relations. Manage grassroots programs and internal communications efforts. Communicate company pharmacy positions on regulatory affairs issues to government agencies, boards of pharmacy's, interest groups, and elected officials. Serve as the corporate liaison to government/industry trade organizations, government/industry organizations and elected officials on key pharmacy issues. Attend board of pharmacy and government events and serve as a liaison for coordinating with and managing local issues involving pharmacy regulatory activities. Attend and participate in legislative hearings, board of pharmacy hearings, draft response/comments on rule making reports, studies, and analyses. Track and provide legislative and regulatory information on key local pharmacy issues to business stakeholders. Assist in the development and execution of political strategies and maintain a working knowledge of and comply with laws regulating local political activities. Develop and implement comprehensive strategies that advance the needs of our pharmacy business. Join with other stakeholders within the company to actively engage in lobbying activities Meet one on one with members of the state legislature, their staff, and other state government officials, as well as board of pharmacy members to gain support for the company's pharmacy advocacy issues. Monitor legislative and regulatory issues of concern to our pharmacy business and appraise appropriate stakeholders of emerging advocacy issues. Leverage internal subject matter experts to appropriately categorize legislative and regulatory threats and opportunities. Provide policy research, development of support materials, recruiting of spokespersons, preparing testimony, and other activities as needed to advance the company's pharmacy legislative agenda. Recruit, train, and coordinate efforts of local pharmacy resources to represent the company's pharmacy legislative agenda. Collaborate with communications partners on development and timing of media advocacy efforts. Participate in collaborative partnerships to leverage opportunities that advance the company's pharmacy advocacy issues. Testify at committee hearings and board of pharmacy meetings. Support large and small internal projects by collaborating with functional groups to identify legislative or regulatory barriers to roll out of company priorities. Identifies opportunities and risks from financial trends and presents findings to management
The salary range is annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.

What we are searching for
Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or Pharm D Specialization: Pharmacy Experience Level: The most appropriate level of experience for this position is 6 to 8 years plus the education listed aboveWe believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:
Prior government, political and/or public relations experience -Strong relationships with local government and regulatory officials elected leaders and political contacts -Background in legislative analysis or proven ability to review and develop a response to or position on issues involving some level legal or regulatory complexity Aggressive, structured and task-oriented individual. Intrapersonal maturity, patience. Organizational and time management skills. Strong computer skills and experience with internet and other research databases. Requires travel to areas critical to achieving Albertsons Companies local government strategies. Understanding of compliance laws regulating political activity. History of substantive work focused on issues related to Medicare, Medicaid, and pharmacy reimbursement in general, as well as a working familiarity with HHS and related agency processes (i.e., CMS, HRSA, FDA and DEA). Understanding of political and legislative processes. Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a confidence and comfort interacting directly with corporate executives, boards of pharmacy, state legislators and members of congress. Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with exceptional research, data collection, and analytical skills.Key Contacts:
