Job Description To enable AbbVie’s continued leadership across prioritized Therapeutic Areas (TA), - Immunology, Neuroscience, Oncology- the Director, Oncology Strategy, plays a leadership role in partnering with cross-functional leaders across the organization to drive long range planning and strategy for each TA. The Director, Oncology Strategy is responsible for building and leading teams that integrate expertise across Oncology Discovery, Early Development, Late Development, Commercial, Corporate Business & Strategy, and other key functions to drive a variety of initiatives, such as creating and executing long range TA strategies, developing above brand Disease Area Strategies, and integrating internal and external opportunity evaluations. Achieving these goals requires a combination of excellent collaborative skills to enable stakeholder management and alignment, broad strategic thinking, and an ability to drive complex analyses using a wide variety of data and insights to synthesize into actionable strategic outputs. Responsibilities: + Build integrated roadmaps for Oncology TA strategy, including near-term, mid-term, and long-term priorities + Coordinate and lead the annual strategic long range planning process for Oncology + Collaborate with Pipeline Commercial Strategy Leads and Asset Strategy Leads to co-lead Disease Area Strategies (DAS) of varying complexities in core tumors, including identifying key questions, structuring workstreams and analyses, synthesizing outputs, and driving alignment with working teams and oncology leadership + Collaborate with Search & Evaluation and Business Development teams to integrate external innovation strategies with internal strategy + Collaborate with various strategy teams within the Corporate Business & Strategy Office (CBSO) to deliver integrated strategy outputs + Lead or support cross-disease, above-assets strategic initiatives that are critical to enable Oncology TA strategy + Serve as a thought partner to Oncology leaders on relevant strategic topics Qualifications + Bachelors or equivalent degree required. Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MBA) highly preferred. Minimum Years of Experience – 8+ with Bachelors, 6+ with Masters, 4+ with PhD + Corporate or TA strategy, R&D, commercial, business development, or related experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry with a track record of expertise in one or more therapeutic areas + Recognized team player with proven facilitative leadership skills in a cross-functional global team environment. Proven performance in a matrix environment with ability to influence and align stakeholders + Proven ability to operate with independence and project ownership to structure and drive complex project plans to address a wide range of problems in situations of ambiguity + Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact externally and internally to support business strategy + Strong analytical skills. Recognized ability to evaluate complex issues from multiple perspectives to ensure that balanced risk assessments are made + Excellent oral and written communication skills. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
