Director, Nuclear Corporate Training

Position Summary


Responsible for the governance and oversight and support of the nuclear accredited and non-accredited training programs for the Xcel Energy nuclear fleet. Lead so that training is used as a strategic tool to provide highly skilled and knowledgeable personnel for safe, reliable, cost-effective operations and to support performance improvement. Ensures site training departments’ initial and continuing training is within the constraints of applicable regulatory requirements, National Academy requirements, the operating licenses, and the Quality Assurance Plan. Areas of oversight and performance responsibility include site and fleet training assessments, operator training, accredited maintenance and technical training, general access training, safety training, nuclear instructor training, nuclear leadership training, simulator testing and maintenance, NRC exam development and related procedures and programs.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsible to create strategies to drive performance improvement through governance and oversight by standardizing training processes and procedures. Provide accountability through various activities and tracking mechanisms to improve performance.Provide oversight and drive accountability of Site Training Directors; provide instruction and direction as a leadership subject matter expert.  Act as delegate for the nuclear General Manager- Nuclear and Technical learning.Provide support and oversight of the Site Maintenance, Technical, Operations Initial and Requalification Training Programs, including the simulator, in accordance with industry and regulatory requirements Ensure proper staffing levels, including training and maintaining of qualifications for programsProvide oversight, strategic vision, execution process and accountability for site and fleet training assessments Set direction, vision and systems that enable forward thinking, anticipation of potential problems, and ways to solve for undesirable outcomes.Provide stakeholder communications such as INPO, NRC, and within the Corporation. Additionally, provide reviews to documents that represent the site to external stakeholders for completeness and accuracy. Maintains industry expertise and reviews new technology, best practices, emerging trends and / or regulation changes and develop strategies for the fleet.Maintaining active involvement with industry evaluations and assist visits; participate in industry working groups to strengthen trainingReview and take the lead to resolve performance deficiencies.Manage relationships with the Fleet across the Nuclear organization and Enterprise Learning Organization demonstrating support and advising on best practices in a collaborate approachLead and demonstrate the elements to create a continuous learning environment, adapt and support Teaching and LearningCoaching and mentoring training directors and supervisors to fully assess and resolve problems and decision- making approaches in a manner that effectively transfers knowledgeManages and maintains INPO Training indicatorsResponsible for outcome of all sites and programs maintaining accreditation successfully

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree or previous SRO license or SRO instructor certification required.10 years of related work experience, including 5 years of training leadership experience as a manager or director (director preferred).Candidates must have strong nuclear training background.Knowledge of the Systematic Approach to Training, including 10 CFR 50 and 10 CFR 55, and associated regulatory guides, NUREGs, and ACADs required.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $166,500.00 to $236,434.00 per year
