The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Director, Marketing – Clinical Labs. The Director, Marketing - Clinical Labs, is a visionary leader for the North America region, who orchestrates the strategic direction and execution of marketing initiatives for VITROS® instruments, automation, informatics, reagents, and associated consumables across the US and Canada. This pivotal role is responsible for leading the team tasked with crafting and implementing innovative strategies that drive market growth, enhance competitive positioning, and maximize revenue potential in the clinical laboratory sector. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of driving market growth in the healthcare industry, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments to achieve transformative results. This position reports to the VP/Head of NA Marketing and Sales Enablement will be hybrid near our Raritan, NJ or Rochester, NY offices. Remote candidates will also considered within the US.

The Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven marketing strategy that aligns with the North American Annual Operating Plan, focusing on market penetration, competitive displacement, and revenue optimization for both capital equipment and consumables.

Drive Launch Excellence for all new product launches from business case through pre-launch planning to execution and attainment of objectives.

Ensure effective product positioning is in place and work with Sales Enablement to ensure knowledge/capability levels are reached with sales teams.

Collaborate with senior leadership to align marketing strategies with overarching business objectives, providing regular insights and recommendations during executive reviews.

Proactively track KPIs, identify trends, and develop action plans. Deliver business updates for monthly/quarterly operating reviews.

Drive engagement and market knowledge through field travel, internal relationships, customer visits, trade shows and attendance of sales team meetings.

Organize, plan and deliver exceptional experiences for annual sales meetings and key trade shows (e.g. ADLM), in partnership with MarComm and Sales Enablement teams.

Mentor and develop a high-performing marketing team, cultivating a culture of innovation, strategic thinking, and continuous improvement.

Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience: Minimum 10 years total sales and marketing experience, including minimum 5 years in clinical diagnostics, or medical devices. 

Managing KPIs & tracking strategic imperatives.

Excellent leadership and team management skills, including a track record of people development.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Analytical skills: Strong ability to analyze market trends and sales performance data.

Strong collaboration skills and willingness to be a team player to solve problems and incorporate input from various sources.

Experience leading cross-functional teams and communicating with various levels of management is required.  Proven ability to successfully influence and lead others without direct authority.

Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and a customer-focused attitude.

This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship. 

Travel: up to 30% within US and Canada.

Preferred:

MBA preferred

Sales experience strongly preferred

Key Working Relationships

Internal Customers: Interacts with all levels of employees. Partnership with Sales, Global Marketing, Learning and Development, Field Service, Legal, Compliance, Customer Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Sales Enablement, and Commercial Excellence.

External Customers: Interacts with external customers, both current and prospective, in presentations, trade shows, and field travel opportunities.

The Work Environment

Typical hybrid office environment. Must have the discipline, organization skills and self-motivation to work autonomously in a home office environment.

The Physical Demands

Must be physically able to travel up to 30%. Travel includes airplane, train, automobile, and overnights.  On a typical workday, 60% of time meeting with people (in person or by Zoom/Teams), 40% of the time on computer, or on phone.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 and is bonus eligible.
