Director, IT Training
The Director of IT Training is responsible for directing IT training within the Health Information and Technology (HIT) division. In this capacity, the Director will create a strategic vision and establish standards for delivery for exceptional technical training to the UVA Health community. The Director will lead the team of managers responsible for development, oversight, and coordination of IT training. The Director is responsible for ensuring that the training management team builds and leads a strong, diverse, and cohesive team that closely aligns their work to initiatives that improve the team member and patient experience. The Director works closely with peers in IT and across UVA Health to remain informed on strategic initiatives, tactical changes, and operational needs that warrant adjustments in training approach to meet organizational objectives. The Director ensures that a sound foundation of tools, processes and people are in place to provide consistent, high-quality training design and delivery.

Direct the centralized IT training organization. As a senior leader, cultivate a culture of team member empowerment and engagement. Constantly strive to ensure that each team member acts at top of license to bring their best talents to the delivery of training services.

Establish and maintain a strategy for exceptional training design and delivery.

Establish and maintain standards and processes to ensure that training is aligned to operational needs, responsive to customer feedback, and evaluated for fit to operational needs on an appropriate schedule.

Ensure that solid partnerships are maintained with key collaborators in training delivery, including those responsible for team member and provider onboarding, resident onboarding, and any embedded trainers who provide training services within their units or areas. Establish and monitor standards to ensure that roles and responsibilities for each contributor to the training process are clear, and that curriculum and delivery meet expectations.

Serve as senior training advisor to other IT teams within HIT, offering guidance on standards and expectations. Ensure that other IT training news for new hires are documented and communicated effectively to onboarding teams and new hire managers.

Ensure that the training team leverages high-quality processes and tools to deliver training services, including training environments, learning management systems, documentation repositories, digital content creation, identification of training needs based on roles and responsibilities, approvals for access based upon training completions, and online training portals.

Ensure that the IT portion of new hire onboarding is optimized to provide high-quality training in an efficient manner, ensuring that critical staffing needs are met to support timely transitions to providing high-quality patient care.

Ensure that internal training processes and standards are well-documented, audited, and maintained.

Remain informed on training trends, tools, and best practices, ensuring that innovation and best practice inform UVA training programs.

Establish metrics and status reporting to track outcomes for training. Using those reports, identifies areas for improvement and implements countermeasures to test and refine new processes.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $130,416.00 - $208,665.60 Annual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master's Degree Preferred.
Experience: 10 years’ experience in information technology, preferred experience in healthcare information technology.

Licensure: Certification in an Epic clinical application is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
