POSITION SUMMARY:                           

The Finance Director acts as a key influencer to business leaders and is responsible for providing financial leadership and business partnership to Advanced Energy’s Global Sales organization in support of strategic decision-making within their organizations. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, business savvy, regularly identifies business needs and recommends changes and improvements, for both the Global Sales organization and within the Global Finance organization. The Director, Finance is a hands-on leader supporting Vice Presidents and their strategic sales teams, by leveraging broad finance experience and best practices to support strategic initiatives through high impact financial analysis, reporting, and insight.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a key member of the cross-functional Global Sales leadership team (dotted line), provides financial partnership and business advice by utilizing complex analyses and financial policy enforcement Support financial modeling and preparation of financial plans for product line initiatives as part of annual strategic planning and annual operating plan (AOP) cycles Collaborate heavily with the Global Sales Operations team to drive financial performance, improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness, as well as meeting the needs of a complex global business Establish use of predictive insights and modern forecasting methodologies to drive improved accuracy and predictability (rolling forecasts, scenario planning, etc.) Apply a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to embrace both inside and outside thinking that advances the organization's finance agenda Lead strategic initiatives across multiple functions and locations to improve commercial profitability and achieve/outperform AOP goals Partner closely with the pricing and contracts teams to ensure that Advanced Energy is taking a progressive, data-driven approach to decision-making Proactively identifies trends and opportunities and makes recommendations to the business leaders to either improve processes or financial performance Drive mature, best-in-class FP&A processes, creating an environment of financial acumen, visibility, and accountability throughout the product line organization as well as the broader Finance organization Work directly and effectively with all levels of the organization, across multiple continents and time zones Act as a leader within the finance organization, mentoring and managing (based on organizational needs) financial analysts; role is expected to have one direct report As a member of the global finance organization, monitor and work within the internal control environment and partner, as needed, with both internal and external audit teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

Highly effective and driven change agent with demonstrated ability to develop relationships, partner, influence, and lead at all levels, even in the face of resistance or inertia Demonstrated people leadership skills, including the desire and ability to organize, develop, and performance-manage a multi-level team of talented professionals located throughout the world Ability and network to recruit when necessary Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and proposals succinctly across the organization, the Board or Committee level Ability to utilize the full Microsoft Office Suite at an advanced level of proficiency Prior experience with an integrated ERP system, including Financial Planning and Consolidation (SAP preferred) Strong work ethic, exceptional “say / do” ratio, initiative-taker with bias to action

 

EXPERIENCE:                                                          

Essential:

At least 10-15 years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment

 

Desirable:

Previous financial management experience in a global high tech and/or manufacturing company Previous experience in Sales Finance, Business Unit Finance, FP&A Previous experience leading a team of financial analysts

 

EDUCATION:                                                                                    

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or similar. MBA, CPA, CMA is a plus

COMPENSATION:                            

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $180,000 to $220,000 per year.
