Director, eDiscovery and Records Management

Responsibilities:

Lead, design, and oversee the execution of a comprehensive technology integration and workflow design strategy for the purpose of designing or enhancing eDiscovery processes, information governance, and records management operations.

Establish framework for program functions and protocols that positively assist, identify, and implement suitable models for process and applications, optimizing them for performance and accuracy.

Develop and execute sound data management procedures and controls, ensuring sustainable compliance with retention and hold requirements that also considers future technology implementation impact.

Work closely with team members and internal clients to understand needs and challenges, providing a custom solution that delivers on needs and challenges.

Consult, advise, and work with cross-functional teams to establish and confirm that technology initiatives comply with legal and regulatory requirements, implementing robust security measures to protect sensitive data.

Identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements, automation, and process improvement, minimizing risk, and increasing team productivity.

Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, adhering to policy, applying ethical judgement, and driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Manage and coordinate all issues that arise in the context of E-Discovery for the Legal Department and the Company, including:  

Manage, oversee, coordinate and track E-Discovery projects.  

Plan and strategize with the Legal Department on discovery best practices and leveraging technology both in-house and with our vendors.

Manage Legal Department requests, including but not limited to: discovery collections; data intake, ingestion, and processing; management and support of in-house hosting and review tools; and production management.

Coordinate efforts across multiple impacted business units; including IT, Messaging, Data Security, etc.

Serve as liaison between the Legal Department and discovery vendors.

Qualifications:

4-year degree in technology field or equivalent education

JD degree preferred 

10+ Years experience in technology or eDiscovery

Strong analytical and advisory skills, including the ability to review and evaluate multi-faceted issues and guide the Legal Department on complex E-Discovery questions.  

Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with senior management, in-house and outside legal counsel, and internal departments.

Experience leading a team of data professionals or project managers

Deep understanding of current eDiscovery law and jurisprudence, eDiscovery processes and current & evolving eDiscovery technologies o demonstrated understanding of eDiscovery practices, including the relationship between eDiscovery and related disciplines (eCompliance, Records, Information Governance, IT, Data Privacy/Protection, Data Security)

Certified by the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS) preferred

This is a hybrid role, on-site 3 days per week at Chevy Chase, MD or New York, NY.

Annual Salary

$143,000.00 - $224,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
