Job Summary
 

The Leadership Development Office (LDO) for MBA Programs oversees a portfolio of developmental programs at the Booth School of Business. This includes an experiential class (LEAD) required of all MBA students. Other program offerings for the LDO include experiential workshops, events, and coaching. The LDO serves full-time, evening, and weekend students, and partners with colleagues to serve executive MBA students.

Each LDO team member plays a lead role in designing and delivering particular programmatic offerings. Additionally, each team member contributes to our full complement of programs through activities such as individual and team coaching, workshop facilitation, and classroom instruction. Finally, each team member owns a set of administrative responsibilities necessary to the success of the Office. All team members are part of a group that collectively manages all office activities.

Responsibilities

Oversees the design and implementation of all co-curricular programming. The most significant aspect of this responsibility involves running the Empeiria Fellows Program for Full-Time, Evening, and Weekend MBA students. The Fellows Program is a year-long developmental program that provides interested students a range of development opportunities. Interprets the core curricular goals of the LDO, creates engaging and impactful learning experiences, leads a team of coaches in developing and delivering these experiences, manages the student experience, and evaluates program impact. This includes managing the associated budget and oversight of operations staff whose work supports the program.Manages LDO team members. Supervises four Leadership Development Coaches including hiring, developing, and managing those coaches. The aim is to build and guide a team that is productive, creative, flexible, and committed. Manages the work of team members they do not formally supervise. The LDO Office employs a matrixed structure which requires collaborating with team members across different team silos. In this context, manages projects and the work products of other LDO team members.Manages institutional relationships. The LDO resides within a large and complex organization, the Booth School of Business. Creates and sustains successful partnerships with departments allied with our learning goals. Additionally, apprehends the impact of school policies and practices and influences the direction of both, with a mind toward more fully achieving favorable outcomes for the school, our office and partners, and our students.Plays a lead role in the management of the LDO. The Director is one of a team of four who collectively manage all the efforts of the LDO. In this capacity, collaborates with the Executive Director and other LDO team leads to provide perspective and ideas. Brings a point of view concerning office practice and curricular goals, while simultaneously responsive to the perspectives of their peers. As a team lead, plays a lead role in exploring and resolving emergent needs.Performs a mix of instruction, facilitation, and coaching as a member of the coaching team. Organizes and guides the participation of fellow coaches when the Executive Director is managing a project. Takes direction and guidance from other coaching team members when playing a supporting role in other coaches’ projects.As a senior staff member of the Booth School of Business, the Director is expected to contribute to the overall quality of the student educational experience. This is a broad responsibility that involves understanding the larger organizational context, understanding the student experience, apprehending when there is need for change or opportunities for improvement, and the ability to flexibly work with partners to take action.Designs, delivers, and evaluates course content including workshops, retreats, and other events. Recruits, plans, and implements training exercises and workshops that support the learning of facilitators and/or participants.Manages relationships with other MBA program and facilities staff to assure continuity in programs and priorities and logistical challenges.Performs other related work as needed.

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).Skillful in the use of virtual learning tools such as Zoom and Canvas.

Working Conditions

Work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support particular programmatic offerings.This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
