Director, Cell Metabolism Core Facility

Job Description Role Overview: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) seeks a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve asDirector of the Cell Metabolism Core Facility. The successful candidate will oversee the facility’s operations, development, and strategic direction, leading the implementation of cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and lipidomics technologies. They will provide expert consultation to researchers, ensuring the highest quality data generation and analysis. This role requires expertise in mass spectrometry, chromatography techniques, and bioinformatics relevant to metabolomics and lipidomics. Additionally, the Director will manage the facility’s finances and human resources while aligning its mission with MSK’s strategic plan. MSK offers a dynamic and collaborative research environment spanning basic, translational, and clinical science within a multi-institutional academic community ( www.ski.edu ). This is a fully institution-supported faculty position. Key Responsibilities: + Develop and implement advanced mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and lipidomics methodologies. + Collaborate with principal investigators and researchers to design and execute experiments. + Supervise and train facility staff and users on experimental protocols and data analysis. + Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade analytical instrumentation, including LC-MS and GC-MS systems. + Oversee facility operations, including budgeting, pricing structure, and compliance with safety regulations. + Provide leadership and oversight to the core personnel of the Core Facility + Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance the facility’s capabilities. + Prepare reports, publications, and grant proposals related to metabolomics & lipidomics research. Qualifications: + PhD. in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field. + Extensive experience in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and lipidomics. + Proficiency in chromatography techniques (LC-MS, GC-MS) and bioinformatics tools for data analysis. + Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a core facility or research laboratory. + Strong track record of scientific contributions, including publications. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaborations. + Experience in budget management and facility operations is preferred.
