Director, B2B Supplier Products and Partnerships
The Merchant Services – U.S. (MS – U.S.) organization seeks to drive welcomed acceptance across all businesses in the United States by providing products and services that allow them to prosper. The B2B Products, Partnerships and Client Management (BPPC) team plays a critical role by defining and delivering these value-add products and services especially for B2B suppliers.
B2B is a strategic focus area for American Express, MS-U.S., and BPPC. To win in this space, we must evolve our supplier value proposition and grow the number of customers on the AXP network, drive greater acceptance of our products, and in turn scale our B2B volume.
The Director of B2B Supplier Products & Partnerships will play a critical role in defining and developing new value for our B2B suppliers in an effort to drive transformative and scalable growth for American Express. In this role, they will be responsible for the crystallization of the strategic vision for the B2B supplier value proposition, the development of the roadmap to deliver against this vision (build/buy/partner), as well as supporting the overall delivery against this roadmap via the B2B Supplier value Go-To-Market team. As part of this, they will oversee new and existing partnerships that advance Global Merchant Network Services strategic B2B goals, including partner portfolios for AR Automation and Value-added Services. They will also develop new solutions and scale existing proprietary products such as Supplier Initiated Payments, Buyer Initiated Payment Dynamic Pricing amongst others in an effort to provide meaningful price-to-value to our B2B suppliers. This director will also develop the next generation B2B solutions, collaborating with Global Commercial Services B2B Product teams to accelerate the transformation roadmap.
This is a high visibility / impactful role, and they will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with senior leadership on diverse and challenging work and will have the opportunity to see the impact of these solutions on the business. As part of the role, they will work closely with teams across GMNS and Global Commercial Services, including Product, Tech, Partnerships, Network, Pricing, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Corporate Development, and the Client Managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy
Own vision and delivery for B2B supplier value proposition for AXP Define how AXP will achieve the POA vision (build/buy/partner) working with GCS product teams Engage across the leadership team to develop and present solutions, provide thought partnership and strategic counsel, and communicate clearly on progress towards goalsProducts
Complete governance and new product approvals for solutions such as Supplier Initiated Payments and other flexible price to value solutions. Work diligently across governance stakeholders to ensure timely completion of product launches and approvals Work closely with partners to execute against roadmaps, owning overall program oversight and delivery against holistic vision. Support go-to-market efforts when appropriate for key products and services launches, including strategic coordination across Pricing, Marketing, and the Field.Partnerships
Own the strategy and partnerships for AR Automation, including on-going product and partnership management and collaboration with the GMNS fields to engage suppliers in automation opportunities. Identify and target new partner solutions (vertical or vertical agnostic) that can help complement AXP value proposition to our supplier customers Oversee necessary governance and compliance infrastructure to ensure we are scaling partner solutions in the right wayPeople Leadership
Lead and build a high performing team of product and partnership managers who develop and scale new B2B solutionsMinimum Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of B2B Payments 3+ year background in product management and/or B2B strategy including AR Automation space Experience in managing product roadmaps and product line strategy Strong sense of ‘customer,’ with proven ability to empathize with and prioritize against solving for customer needs Ability to understand, synthesize and effectively communicate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audiences Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and synthesize a broad set of information Excellent project management skills with sense of urgency for driving projects forward Ability to collaborate effectively in a team and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels Bachelors Degree requiredMinimum Qualifications:
Strong evidence of people leadership highly preferred ANP, control management or NPA experience preferredEmployment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
