Job Description:

Director, Data Architect – Mainframe Migration

In this leadership role you will drive innovation in the Data Strategy space for the Workplace Investing (WI) division of Fidelity Investment. You will work with WI Architects to formulate the strategy and adoption of emerging data technologies to help the modernization of legacy mainframe applications along with many other innovative. You will work closely with business partners and technology teams to understand business objectives and help define the appropriate architecture direction.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Education – BS or MS required Demonstrated technology and personal leadership experience in architecting, designing, and building highly scalable transactional, analytical, and reporting applications Ability to formulate data strategy, conceptual architecture and work with development teams to execute the strategy Expertise in data management standard methodologies such as data integration, data security, data warehousing, data analytics, metadata management and data quality Ability to evaluate, prototype and recommend emerging data technologies and platforms Demonstrated experience developing enterprise applications and data solution in the cloud – Azure/AWS Experience architecting large complex systems with large volume and high-performance requirements Strong understanding of Data Modeling concepts including 3rd normal form and dimensional modeling Expertise in relational database technologies such as Oracle and Snowflake; cloud native databases such as Yugabyte DB and Cockroach DB; and NoSQL databases such as Aerospike  Expertise in programming languages such as SQL and Python, Java a plus Experience with relevant Azure services such as Subscriptions, Virtual Networks, VMs, Storage Accounts, etc. required ETL experience on-prem and the cloud, preferred Python, Informatica and Snaplogic Experience with data processing concepts such as Change Data Capture, Eventing, and Streaming technologies Analytical reporting experience, preferably Snowflake and PowerBI Strong understanding of cloud concepts, specifically transactional resiliency, scalability, and performance from a data/database perspective Understanding of mainframe technology desired but not needed Mainframe Modernization Experience a big plus
