Job Role: Digital Solutions Engineer
Work Location: KL, Malaysia
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Digital Solutions Engineer to join our Construction Department. With 5 to 7 years of handson experience in a similar role, you will be at the forefront of leveraging digital technologies to improve efficiency, safety, and performance across our construction projects in the Oil & Gas sector. You’ll collaborate with various teams to integrate, deploy, and maintain digital tools, ensuring that we stay ahead of industry trends and drive project success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Digital Transformation in Construction: Drive the strategic adoption of digital tools such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), IoT sensors, drones, and digital twins to optimize construction workflows, project scheduling, and quality control.
• Technology Integration and Customization: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to seamlessly integrate digital solutions (software, systems, and platforms) into all stages of construction—from design to handover.
• Data-Driven Insights: Leverage advanced data analytics tools to capture and analyze real-time project data, enabling informed decision-making and proactive issue resolution to maintain schedule and cost efficiency.
• Field Data Integration: Ensure the integration of IoT devices, sensors, and drone technologies into the construction process for real-time data collection and monitoring, allowing for quick adjustments to project execution.
• Digital Tools Training and Support: Lead training initiatives to educate project teams on new technologies and best practices, ensuring effective utilization of digital solutions and maximizing return on investment.
• Collaboration Across Departments: Collaborate with IT, operations, engineering, and management teams to identify technology gaps and propose digital solutions that address project challenges.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date on emerging digital technologies and industry trends. Proactively evaluate and recommend new tools, platforms, or processes to enhance construction operations and overall project delivery.
• System Testing and Maintenance: Oversee the successful deployment, testing, and ongoing maintenance of digital systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and securely across all construction sites.
• Reporting and Documentation: Develop comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate progress, metrics, and digital solutions effectiveness to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Upgraded the current Quality digital tools by working closely with users and integrating their feedback.
• Perform daily maintenance to manage user access allocation and maintain the integrity of secure data.
• Established a robust and automated CQ KPI Cloud database on SharePoint, working closely with CQMs to facilitate timely updates and uphold data integrity.
• Developed a Power BI dashboard that provides a comprehensive overview of CQ KPIs
• Assisted the CQ HoD in detailing the ECQ workflow, processes, and concepts, which were successfully presented to stakeholders, leading to budget approval.
• Able to prepare a software specification.
• Assist the Head of Department for CQ in QOC workflow and processes.
• Able to prepare a workflow, rules, and specifications
• Able develop a pilot Power App software and presentation.
• Contribute to technical workshops with the software vendor, ensuring daily collaboration to facilitate swift and high-quality software development.
• Able to manage an overall function testing during the software development process, working alongside developers to identify and resolve bugs.
• Able to prepare the training materials, GEMS procedures, and workflows for all projects.
• Manage project setup, user registration, and user role assignments effectively.
• Deliver training sessions for site CQMs on the functionalities of QOC 1.0 across 5 projects
Key Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience as a Digital Solutions Engineer, IT engineer, or a similar role within the Oil & Gas or construction industry, with a focus on technology integration and digital project management. Proven track record in deploying and managing digital solutions for large-scale construction projects (e.g., BIM, GIS, CAD, project management platforms like Procore or Aconex). ???????Hands-on experience with IoT, drones, and real-time data analytics tools in construction. o Experience in working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure) and enterprise-level systems integration. ???????System Administration including PIMS, Go-Tech, ECOM, Hexagon and QOC ???????Database Engineering o Database Setup and Process with Sharepoint ???????Power Query, DAX, Access and SQL ???????Data Visualization and reporting with PowerBI, Excel and Macro ?????????????????????Software development with SQL Server, VB.Net, C and C++ Low code software development and administration with Powe App, Dataverse and Azure DeVops. ??????? Skills: Strong understanding of construction workflows, project management, and how digital solutions can streamline processes, reduce risks, and optimize performance. ???????Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and their application to construction project reporting. Proficiency in software integration, system configuration, and troubleshooting within a construction environment. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges and propose efficient solutions. ???????Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. ???????Ability to work independently and as part of a team, balancing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
