Digital Projects Coordinator
Summary This position is locate in the Special Collections Directorate, Research and Collections Services. The position description number for this position is 461574. The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area. The incumbent of this position MAY POSSIBLY work a flexitime work schedule. This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position. Responsibilities Plans, develops, and implements program/project development activities that affect broad mission areas. Activities include interacting with stakeholders and other groups; assessing capabilities and identifying various units to serve as change-agents; and ensuring appropriate program/project documentation and training are professionally executed and broadly shared. Advises management on a variety of technical information and program/project issues and solicits feedback from and communicates with frontline staff users. Provides programmatic coordination on high visibility projects, consulting with professionals in various sectors. Advises senior management on key issues/constraints to program/project development. Directs and/or participates in review of proposed technical information projects and programs, policy, and technical input. Serves as a product owner for software implementations, prioritizing deliverables to maximize benefit. Collaborates with management in carrying out analyses, feasibility studies, project design proposals through preparation of terms of reference, and making study teams available. Provides project development support on the design and implementation of mission-critical systems. Leads the design and development of new technical information programs/projects, initial reconnaissance of projects; preparation of scopes of work for feasibility studies; selection of study contractors; review, and approval of completed feasibility studies. Reviews program/project proposals for economic, financial, technical soundness; recommends or takes appropriate actions. Provides expert guidance in resolving complex problems or issues impacting agency programs systems for collection management, description, discovery, and access. Analyzes and participates in the development of appropriate guidelines, standards, and mechanisms for setting program priorities. Creates innovative approaches to implementation with the broad framework of program strategies and goals. Provides expert analysis, advice and develops solutions to address issues and programs associated with agency-wide programs. Performs research on new developments in emerging areas related to library technologies, particularly as they apply to collection management, description, discovery, and access. Based on digital library trends, operations, changing program requirements, identifies relevant issues for management. Collects, analyzes, evaluates relevant stakeholder, technical, programmatic information from varied sources inside and outside the Library, and makes authoritative recommendations to management. Explores new tools, system development, and coordinates technologies to meet user needs. Directs studies and testing of digital library best practices, standards. Performs research to meet existing and anticipated needs. Develops cost estimates and makes recommendations for the purchase of specialized technology.
