Become our digital content strategist and be the driving force of our digital communication efforts! In this dynamic role, you'll craft and execute content and engagement strategies across our social media channels. Your goal: develop digital campaigns that elevate awareness, boost engagement and champion TEXAS Research as UT continues its trajectory to become the world’s top public research institution. As a key player on our team, you'll be at the heart of our mission to showcase the groundbreaking work of our research community, collaborating with talented content creators from colleges, schools and units across campus. 

This role reports directly to the director of research communications.
 

The mission of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors (OVPR) is to foster the expansion of the scale, quality, and impact of scholarly endeavors at UT Austin. Purpose

This position will support the Office of the Vice President for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors (OVPR) portfolio with communications on digital and social platforms.

Responsibilities

Create and Innovate: Develop and design captivating social media campaigns that highlight the incredible achievements of UT researchers and faculty. Use your skills in photography, video and digital storytelling to create content that stands out.

Analyze and Optimize: Monitor social media performance and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement. Stay ahead of the curve with the latest technologies, tactics, and platforms to maximize our digital impact.

Strategic Planning: Oversee the social media content calendar, ensuring it aligns with our organizational priorities and campaigns.

Collaborate and Support: Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure cohesive and effective digital campaigns across all platforms.

Content Development & Management: Assist with website content management and help create and distribute engaging content for newsletters and email communications.

Mentor and Lead: Guide and inspire our student-worker content creators, helping them produce high-quality digital materials.

Required Qualifications

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, communications, journalism or a related field

Experience: Minimum of two years in digital strategy and content development

Social Media Expertise: Proven track record in developing and executing successful social media strategies and campaigns

Platform Proficiency: Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms and analytics tools

Communication Skills: Excellent writing and storytelling abilities

Brand Management: Experience in maintaining brand and style standards and guidelines

Multimedia Skills: Proficiency in using multimedia software such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to create social media assets

Attention to Detail: Superior proofreading skills

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Multimedia Proficiency: Experience with video, graphics and photo editing software (e.g., Premiere, Final Cut, iMovie, Photoshop, YouTube Studio or similar)

Storytelling Techniques: Ability to use a full range of multimedia storytelling methods, from written copy to slideshows and videos

Higher Education: Experience working in higher education environments

Project Management: Experience using organizational platforms such as Asana, Airtable or Smartsheet.

Salary Range

$57,000 + depending on qualifications

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
