Position Summary: 

Provides outpatient nutrition and diabetes counseling and education to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital/Health Group patients. Completes nutrition assessments, develops and implements care plans. Conducts individual and group programs and presentations. Attends meetings and care conferences, provides input and feedback regarding patients nutrition care.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

B.A. or B.S. degree in Nutrition and DieteticsMontana Licensure (Nutritionist)Registration from the Commission on Dietetic RegistrationSuccessful completion of ADA/CDR approved internship - Registration Eligible

Preferred

CDE preferred or previous experience with Diabetes Self-Management Education2 years’ clinical dietetics experience preferred

Essential Job Functions:

In addition to the essential functions of the job listed below, employees must have on-time completion of all required education as assigned per DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

Conducts and documents MNT assessments, education and counseling including Diabetes Self Management Education for patients of BDHS.Develops and presents community and group BDHS programs including DSME and MNT classes.Participates in community health fairs and events.Communicates patients nutrition status to other healthcare providers.Participates in the development of nutrition education materials and programs.Bills for professional services.Coordinates patient care with outside agencies, clinics and other health care professionalsCompletes monthly QI monitors and implements actions for improvementProvides in-service training for nursing and other departments as requestedActs as the nutrition liaison/resource to Health Group clinicsObtains and maintains supplies needed to perform work duties from office coordinators, print shop, marketing, etc.Attends meetings as scheduledOther duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Support 50 pounds of weight (patient, assist with bedside needs, etc.) Lift 50 pounds (pick up a child, transfer a patient, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength (CPR, physically restrain patient, etc.)Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly.Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families.Repetitive Tasks: Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
