NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (NY HELPS)Candidate must have a Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD.Additional:This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In June 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. Duties Description Applicants must be able to work independently as well as within groups. Must possess excellent organizational, time management and communication skills. Willing to drive between multiple work locations. Responsible for the nutritional care of service recipients living in approximately 5 IRAs including: Perry, Lakeview, North Maple, Witter (this is a medical home), and Keating. This position requires strong clinical skills in medical nutrition therapy. The selected candidate will complete nutrition assessments using an Electronic Health Record and develop nutrition prescriptions in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process, communicate with community health care providers, participate as part of an Interdisciplinary Program Planning Team; Attend Quality of Life, Life Planning and Departmental meetings; provide education and training to service recipients, family members, direct support staff and others as clinically appropriate. Conduct meal observations and provide technical support in maintaining food safety and sanitation in assigned homes. Assist in teaching New Employee Orientation Meal Management Training as scheduled.
