Matheny Medical and Educational Center has a career opportunity available for a Full Time Dietician (30 hours per week).This position is Tuesday-Friday, day shift. Growing Abilities Job Duties for this position include: + Assesses and plans for the nutritional care of all patients/students. + Plans dietary modifications utilizing knowledge of food, composition, and nutrient drug interactions. + Conducts meal rounds assessing tray accuracy, patient intake and meal satisfaction. Develops strategies to help patients comply with diet orders and to improve intake as needed. + Develops and implements nutritional needs of tube fed patients/students, working closely with the physicians and nursing staff; Offers recommendations, adjustments and modifications with the appropriate formulary. + Counsels individual residents, parents and guardians in the principles of nutrition, diet planning, and food selection/preparation. + Participates as an effective health team member by interpreting, coordinating and integrating nutritional information into the total health care plan; Participates in staff committees as appropriate. Participates in educating medical students and Dietetic interns. Attends interdisciplinary team meetings as needed. + Attends interdisciplinary meetings as assigned. + Collects department quality assurance data and conducts improvement initiatives as assigned. + Ensures proper therapeutic diets are served to patients in appropriate consistencies, as order by a physician. + Ensures accurate recording and transmitting of diet orders and changes received from the Nursing department. Tracks late and missed diet orders. Notifies Nursing of results. + Assists in developing and conducting staff development activities, orientation and educational programs. + Because the operation of the Food Services Department is critical to the health and well-being of our patients/students, all staff may be required to perform tasks within the department that may not be part of their regular job duties. + Communicates all questions and concerns reported by staff or patients pertaining to the Food Services department. Provides feedback and recommendations for improved nutritional services to the Food Services Manager or Chief Clinical Dietician. Position Requirements Bachelors Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university required. Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals preferred.
