No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary Under the direction of the Director of Development, the development officer builds and expands efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward blended gifts (including major – $30,000+, leadership – $1,000 and planned); from SUNY Cortland Alumni, parents, faculty/staff, emeriti and friends. The development officer will engage and meet with prospects in person and virtually.

Major Responsibilities This role will identify and qualify and then manage, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of existing and prospective donors with a wide range of giving capacity. Traveling nationally to visit with donors will be expected and measured. You will need the skills necessary to partner with campus liaisons and key influencers to engage donors within the college’s priorities, while meeting donor’s interests. This role will collaborate with other development officers, Alumni Engagement staff and the President’s office to create, schedule, and attend college sponsored donor events to maximize donor engagement and strategies with prospects under management. Functional and Supervisory Relationships • The Development Officer reports to the Director of Development for Institutional Advancement.• Collaborate with data management team, advancement operations (gift processing), financial operations, and Cortland Fund.• Work collaboratively with other development staff, Alumni Engagement staff and the President’s office to develop travel and event activities that you can attend with the President and with prospects under your management. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree.• Ability to travel by independently planning and implementing trips/donor visits.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft applications.• Valid driver’s license.• Ability to travel monthly.• Availability for periodic evening and weekend work.

Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree.• Three years’ work experience in higher education or not-for-profit fundraising or sales.
