Development Manager (Mobile – Kotlin) (CPT)
ENVIRONMENT: WORK with a sophisticated team of an established company with a national footprint and frontier technology to see the evolution and improvement of cutting-edge mobile apps and gateway APIs as its next Development Manager (Mobile – Kotlin). Your role will entail providing ongoing coaching and feedback, proactively managing team performance, and supporting employee career development. You will also manage progress and sprint planning across teams while identifying development and production issues. Ideal candidates will excel in hiring and retaining high performers, actively managing change, and role modelling behaviours that align with the business culture and values. You will also require 10 years’ Software Development with at least 5 years in a Managerial role and have Frontend/Backend Kotlin, RESTful Web Services, Relational DBMS, MSSQL and Microservices architecture and design.   DUTIES: Manage progress and sprint planning across teams. Lead and manage the Software Development and IT teams to deliver software and infrastructure. Collaborate with the appropriate functions and users to evaluate and identify technology platforms for delivering the company’s products and internal services. Drive consistent standards and approaches throughout the Development teams. Work with System Architects to evolve and improve mobile applications and mobile gateway APIs. Work closely with Solutions Architects, Team Leads and Technical Integrations team to deliver on business requirements. Provide work estimates based on analysed business and technical requirements. Work closely with QA to identify development and production issues. Responsible for ensuring work is Unit/Integration tested and documented Leadership & Management: Lead and mentor Development teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment. Identify and eliminate roadblocks to maintain team momentum and productivity. Bridge technical efforts with a deep understanding of the broader organizational and ecosystem context. While overseeing multiple projects, actively contribute to ongoing functional work to maintain a balance of strategy and execution. Oversee team capacity, project delivery timelines, and the recruitment process, ensuring the right resources are in place for sustainable success. Lead hiring efforts, strategically determining headcount and onboarding top talent to scale team capabilities.   REQUIREMENTS: Have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Software Development. Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role. Experience leading and mentoring Developers. Frontend and or Backend Kotlin experience RESTful Web Services. Relational DBMS, MSSQL. Microservices architecture and design.   Advantageous – Swift Frontend iOS. Kotlin for Android Development. Kotlin/Java Spring Boot Backend. C# .Net Core. MSSQL/Oracle. OAuth 2.0 authentication. Docker. DevOps methodology including setting up CI/CD pipelines. RabbitMQ. Redis. MQTT. Azure Cloud Services. Experience working in Agile methodologies. Experience using mobile tech stacks and other Programming languages.   ATTRIBUTES: Strong and proven leadership qualities. Able to communicate about technology in non-technical terms to colleagues and Clients. Experienced in staff management (including KPI and skill/growth management). Ability to work calmly and methodically when under pressure.
