Development Manager, BESS East Region
**RWE Clean Energy, LLC** **To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent** **Functional area:** Project Development **Remuneration:** Exempt The **Development Manager, BESS** will be fully responsible for leading U.S.-based BESS projects in the Eastern Region through all development phases. He or she will work closely with each of the three pillars of Utility-Scale Development, East (Project Development, Business Development, and Land Acquisition). The individual will assess the viability of project feasibility, secure land control, coordinate applications for interconnection, and enable environmental, permitting, and transmission reviews. The primary objective of the position is to deliver high-quality BESS projects are holistically de-risked pre-NTP. The Development Manager, BESS will lead all aspects of his or her project portfolio, both externally and internally. Externally, you will build relationships with landowners, community members, regulators, and local government officials to gain project support. **Role Responsibilities:** + Develop BESS origination strategies in the East Region in coordination with the Business Development team that result in differentiated projects with high barriers to entry + Liaise closely with the Land Acquisition team to secure site control agreements + Support the Vice President, Utility-Scale Development, East in crafting and executing a regional BESS strategy + Assess acquisition opportunities through in-depth diligence + Oversee various permitting and environmental studies and manage outside consultants to meet project budget and schedule + Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including federal, state and local officials, fire departments, project landowners, and surrounding community members + Facilitate the engagement of internal transmission, procurement, project execution, legal, accounting, and finance teams + Develop control and influence over the costs, terms, and schedules of key project milestone **Job Requirements and Experiences:** + Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field + Strong interest in renewable energy and sustainability + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills + Effective communication and interpersonal skills + Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment + Minimum 5 years of experience in the renewable energy sector with at least 2-3 years in BESS development + Familiarity with key markets with emphasis on NYISO and PJM + Knowledge of BESS technologies and industry trends + Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, GIS) + Basic understanding of regulatory frameworks and permitting processes + Flexibility to travel up to 50% of time **Pay range:** The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $132,000 - $197,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
