How will you make an impact?
The Development Chemist will function as a key member of the Process Development Service team. This position will support existing and new processes by designing, conducting, and leading scientific research projects to develop new improved products for our clients. You will strive to deliver our products while ensuring that the site’s technical, quality and safety metrics are all achieved. The individual will provide chemistry expertise in the development, scale up and transfer of new products along with supporting existing products. This technical position will also drive continuous improvement activities and be involved in problem solving projects.
What will you do?
Provides technical & laboratory support for the introduction of new products right from route development, through scale up and implementation on plant scale. Propose modifications to the synthetic route or techniques to tackle chemistry issues for both laboratory and plant processes.Provide technical transfer support of processes.Undertake the synthesis of compounds to required quality standards, including acquiring and interpretation of analytical data (LCMS, NMR etc)Apply knowledge and experience to the interpretation of reactions and analytical data, identify and understand problems encounteredClear and accurate recording of experiments in laboratory notebooksDevelop subject area and drug discovery knowledge through journal and patent literature and via relevant trainingIdentify and drive process improvements for new and existing products.Participate fully in Cork site safety initiatives and ensure all required safety precautions are undertakenHow will you get here?
Relevant qualification in PhD in chemistry with a significant Organic/Research Chemistry componentExperience in industry or research institution preferred but not crucial.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Proficient knowledge in synthetic organic chemistry, particularly in route development and optimisationProven track record to think critically and innovatively combined with willingness to challengeStrong analytical capability and ability to carry out large scale reactions in the laboratoryExperience in supporting plant processes preferred.Proven track record in troubleshooting and solving sophisticated issuesExcellent communication & technical writing skillsAbility to work with numerous departments and levels of employees.About us:
