The Engineering Design group is seeking a Measurement Engineer to support Intrastate Natural Gas and Products pipeline projects through project execution and operational support. Position Description: Provide engineering support in all areas of gas and liquid measurement and related equipment. The individual will be an engineering resource to the midstream and products pipeline departments in support of measurement activities and must possess the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of people (personalities, skill and education levels, etc.) with tact, courtesy and professionalism. The individual must possess skills used in the development of measurement projects including preliminary project scope and equipment sizing and selection. Responsibilities include meter sizing, sizing pipe, selecting/sizing control valves, selecting over-pressure protection (OPP) devices, gas sampling, odorant design, fuel gas skids for compressor stations, relief valve sizing, heater sizing, familiar with pressure drop calculations, familiar with weld/heat maps and sizing/selecting filtration equipment. The successful candidate will be capable of communicating this information using well-developed written and verbal skills. Additionally, the successful candidate will support Kinder Morgan Operations personnel in troubleshooting of issues at measurement, regulation/control facilities that include OPP review and calculations, for new/existing equipment evaluations. Position Requirements Position Requirements: Minimum Requirements/Skills/Experience: + Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. + A minimum of 5 years’ experience with gas and liquid measurement design is required. + Review, recommend and evaluate the design, installation, and operations of gas and liquid measurement facilities to ensure compliance with DOT requirements while evaluating them for the optimization of efficient, safe and economical operation. + Experience and knowledge in design, sizing, and selection of piping, fittings, valves, flow meters, etc. + Working knowledge of natural gas measurement standards (49 CFR Part 192, ASME B31.8, ASME B31.4, AGA, API, GPA, etc.). + Working knowledge of the sizing, selection and operation of orifice meters, turbine meters, PD meters, rotary meters, ultrasonic meters and associated equipment. + Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and Process Flow Diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, P&IDs, and fabrication drawings. Must be able to create schematics and Bills of Material in support of projects. + Must possess excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Must be accountable for completing tasks with quality, compliance with applicable codes/standards, and on schedule. Must be accountable to and take direction from managers and senior leaders. + Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal guidance or supervision. Ability to develop and coordinate work schedules, focus attention on details; follow and enforce policy and adhere to prescribed work practices is expected. + Effectively interface and collaborate with other Company departments including Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, Business Development, and Operations to maintain the integrity of the Company’s infrastructure. + Represent the Company in area of expertise with customers, suppliers, licensees, third party engineering firms, outside consultants, and industry associations. + Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work while supporting the department and project managers with the goal of successful project execution. + Assist with the commissioning and troubleshooting of measurement equipment and systems. + Ability to take initiative and work with both company and non-company personnel to accomplish goals in a fast paced environment. + Proficient PC-based skills including MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access) and engineering applications. + Must possess well-developed analytical and problem solving skills to address complex technical matters. + Create technical specifications, Engineering Standards, Construction Standards, and O&M Standards to increase department efficiency. + Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced members of the group. + Coordinate with Engineering and Field Operations on new ad changes to existing measurement projects to ensure proper selection and installation of equipment for custody transfer and material balance measurements. + Prepare and coordinate engineering reports, calculations, studies, and presentations. + Maintain regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance. + U.S. Citizenship is required. + Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company. + Travel is required (~25%). **Position may be filled at various levels depending on the experience and job skills of a successful candidate.
