Job Description

Contract Opportunity to provide surge support for Design Checking necessary to review mechanical systems engineering drawings within the aircraft interiors as part of verification and validation plans. This position focuses on design checking of interior drawings (seats, walls, handles, doors, belts, etc.), and does not involve avionics or new design creation. The role includes reviewing high quantities of drawings in CATIA, supporting the development and review of validation and verification plans, and ensuring supplier designs meet fit, form, function, and weight budget requirements.

ResponsibilitiesReview mechanical systems engineering drawings within the aircraft interiors.Support the development and review of validation and verification plans.Ensure supplier designs meet fit, form, and function requirements while adhering to weight budgets.Review and release supplier-provided drawings.Collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers throughout design and production.Essential SkillsMinimum 8 years of experience in design and design checking.Proficiency with mechanical design and background in aerospace interiors.Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Astronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering.Experience with CATIA V5.Proficiency in CAD software (preferably 3DEXPERIENCE or CATIA V5/V6).Knowledge of GD&T standards and tolerance analysis.Knowledge of PLM and requirements management tools (Enovia or 3DEXPERIENCE a plus).Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to work autonomously and review drawings for accuracy.Significant experience with aircraft interiors (drawings of seats, walls, handles, doors, belts).Experience in mechanical systems, design control, and design validation.Work Environment

The position is based at the Tustin Headquarters, which features a dynamic and innovative workspace designed to foster creativity and collaboration. The headquarters focuses on research and development and is located at FLIGHT at Tustin Legacy, a creative office campus situated on 17 acres with almost 372,000 square feet of space. The contract is for 6 months or more, with a straight 40-hour workweek in Pacific Time.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
