PurposeThe Design and Media Associate will create visually compelling graphics and video that support Texas Performing Arts’ programming, fundraising, and educational objectives. Through effective visual storytelling, the position helps achieve TPA’s mission to connect people through live performance while meeting revenue and engagement goals for TPA’s events.
ResponsibilitiesGraphic and Media Design: Design and create assigned TPA promotional, fundraising, and institutional materials (including but not limited to print & digital advertising, house programs, video content, in-venue and exterior signage, executive presentations, fundraising materials, social media content, and education & engagement materials) that effectively balance TPA’s mission and brand with visually compelling use of available assets. Develop new assets through photography and videography.
Design Process Management: Effectively communicate with vendors and partners throughout the entire production process to ensure timeliness and accuracy of production, including acquiring bids and placing orders based on budgets, preparing files, and processing internal requisitions. Develop successful professional relationships with
internal and external clients, suppliers, printers, and vendors that allow for effective project completion. Participate in the deployment of designed items.
Design Budget Management: Develop, track, and approve design materials and expenses within area and project budgets.
Design Resource Management: Supervise student design employees to include recruiting and art direction/consultation on design solutions. Engage and supervise freelance photographers or videographers as assigned.
Marketing & Communications Support: As part of the marketing and communications team, maintain familiarity with TPA’s digital communications platforms to participate in marketing and communications campaigns when assigned, including social media posts, website updates, email campaign creation and scheduling, earned media, and paid advertising placement.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least one (1) year of professional experience in print/web design and short-form video creation/editing.
Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro or After Effects.
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of clients in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred QualificationsPhotography or videography experience.
Experience in an arts presenting organization, arts producing organization, university-based organization, or multi-venue performing arts organization.
Experience managing part-time, student or contract workers.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems within standardized policies and procedures.
Interest in and a strong commitment to the mission and programs of Texas Performing Arts.
Relevant professional education or credentials.
Familiarity with Texas Performing Arts venues; familiarity with Austin-area venues.
More than the minimum required level of experience.
Salary Range$50,000+ depending on qualifications
Working ConditionsRepetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Prolonged screen time.

Work ShiftStandard 8 am – 5 pm office hours.
Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work is required to support performances and events. Work will exceed 40 hours per week at peak times. A compensatory time program is provided.
