Job Description Summary:

The Deputy Vice President/General Manager (VP/GM) for Electronics Systems is a pivotal role within Draper, responsible for leading a geographically distributed leadership team. This position is integral to delivering business growth, enhancing business processes, and achieving financial results across multiple product lines/business segment to include Microelectronics, GN&C solutions, Decision solutions, and Production Systems. ES is a diverse portfolio serving customers across the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense throughout the entire product lifecycle requiring significant oversight and strong portfolio management experience. The role supports the VP/GM by sharing responsibilities and providing backup in critical business situations. It requires active, day-to-day management of the ES portfolio, ensuring effective program execution and delivery of customer commitments across various contract types. As the program management authority, the Deputy will continuously improve program management methods and foster a culture of excellence in program management. This includes driving effective customer relations, contract management, supply chain management, and risk and opportunity management. The deputy is responsible for cross-functional alignment to meet portfolio needs. This position is integral in supporting the VP/GM and working along with the Growth & Capture Director in the annual financial planning process and the development of the 5-year integrated business plan (IBP), focusing on investment requirements, operational improvements, and staffing plans. The Deputy will work across the business segments with the Product Line Directors to develop the quarterly business review (QBR) ensuring consistent delivery of financial results, mission deliverables, and customer satisfaction. The Deputy VP/GM will also focus on talent development and retention, enhancing the depth of talent and competencies in program leadership and management.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

Act on behalf of the VP/GM to lead day-to-day operations of the Program Office business portfolio.

Manage the Program Office portfolio of product lines and programs to ensure effective execution and delivery of commitments.

Lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs) across product lines ensuring consistent financial results.

Drive program improvements in program management methods and rigor.

Develop program management talent and leadership.

Enhance customer relations, contract management, supply chain management, large-scale logistics management, and risk & opportunity management as Program Office portfolio lead across functions.

Translate strategic goals into workable operational solutions.

Work with VP/GM and Growth & Capture Director to develop the 5-year integrated business plan (IBP).

Work with the VP/GM to drive the annual financial planning process.

Work across business segments/product lines, growth & capture, engineering, operations, IT, and security to develop staffing plans, capacity needs, and ensure infrastructure projects support the needs of the business.

Complete special projects and initiatives with skillful oversight and support.

Build an organization that meets aggressive goals based on teamwork, candor, and accountability.

Ensure compliance and regulatory processes are implemented efficiently and with integrity.

Communicate effectively with clear messaging at all organizational levels.

Foster a culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Skills/Abilities

Experience working closely with government and commercial clients for proposal negotiations

Experience in program management in the aerospace and defense industries.

Proven experience in executing large/complex production programs

Program management excellence and certification

Leading portfolio management planning projects and driving them to meet organizational objectives

Superb communication: fostering a positive relationship to instill trust and communication across functions

Education

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related field, advanced degree preferred

Experience

At least 15 years of experience in leadership roles developing and delivering technology solutions in Intelligence Community/Department of Defense and/or commercial environments.
