Position Responsibilities:
Provide support to the General Counsel and the organization on a variety of legal matters. Perform job duties consistent with legal and regulatory requirements, and Mount Sinai’s values, standards, culture, and business practices. Provide legal direction and supervision to clinical and business units. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts consistent with Mount Sinai’s strategic objectives. Explain Mount Sinai’s positions, and negotiate with outside parties on regulatory and legal disputes, including settlements. Serve as a legal representative for Mount Sinai in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, trials and other outside legal matters. Monitor and manage outside counsel. Draft policy changes, as required. Anticipates and mitigates potential legal problems within the organization and develops strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk. Strategically leads various legal projects and negotiates workable solutions to complex legal issues.Qualifications:
Doctor of Jurisprudence from an accredited law school. Florida law license and Bar membership in good standing. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an attorney with emphasis in corporate and regulatory law within the healthcare industry. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while keeping a focus on the details. Substantial experience in preparing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents. Broad knowledge of the legal issues encountered by healthcare systems.
