The Department Lead is responsible for guiding the receiving, warehousing, shipping, and inventory control of products consistent with company quality, service, and cost objectives and to meet daily delivery and productivity goals. Responsible for coaching, motivating, and leading warehouse teams to attain and exceed established objectives, utilizing effective communication, training, and implementing process improvements.

Job Duties

·         Leads day-to-day activities for assigned teams to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements in accordance with established company policies and procedures while maintaining the highest possible levels of productivity.

·         The orderly stacking and storage of product.

·         The staging and loading of outbound shipments.

·         Ensures assigned teams ‘outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.

·         Ensures the efficient and safe operation of all materials handling equipment, provides updates and training as needed.

·         Ensures adequate staffing by assuring that the work schedules established are correctly implemented and are assigned effectively and completed properly.

·         Ensures operations are conducted in a manner that promotes safety and in accordance with Occupational

·         The maintenance of a variety of records, files, and reports.

·         Ensures product quality. 

Provides employees in shipping or receiving with continuous instruction on proper techniques and procedures.

 

Performs follow-up checks during the shift and provides management with feedback regarding the performance of individual employees.

 

Essential Functions

·     Supports the shift efforts by coordinating warehouse personnel and directing the flow of shipments/goods.

·     Manages hourly direct reports and assigned departmental processes within established operations priorities.

·     Expedites distribution activities to meet scheduled storage and shipping objectives.

·     Trains hourly associates while maintaining safe working conditions and practices.

·     Drives improvement projects as required.

·     Direct employees with respect to safety policies and procedures, distribution volume, cost, quality, and meeting shipment schedules and delivery dates. 

·     Responsibilities include providing necessary coaching, training, and administering discipline.

·     Promote positive employee relations through effective management and issue resolution

·     Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices. 

·     Assure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.  

·     Manage hourly workforce on outbound shifts

·     Must be able to qualify for and maintain forklift license; valid state issued driver’s license and successful completion of eye exam required.

·     Flexible with working 10 hour or 12-hour shifts

·     Perform other duties as required or directed.

Minimum Requirements

2-3 years of supervisory experience in distribution/ logistics/ warehouse environment

Team oriented, self-motivated, and positive attitude.

Ability to contribute and work within a cross-functional team

Good communication both written and verbal.

Demonstrated proficiency in PKMS and SAP as it related to job responsibilities. Experience with all MS Office products and ability to use Excel.

Ability to manage by coaching and teaching

Able to work with minimal supervision

Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment

 

The California base pay range for this position is from $52,000 to $53,040. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
