The Dental Assistant will be an integral part of the clinic team, which includes faculty patient care managers, dental student providers, and treatment coordinators. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the team to provide patient care in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring a high level of customer experience and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
+ Perform chair side assisting for undergraduate and graduate students during dental treatment procedures.
+ Record procedures in the patient management system.
+ Maintain clinic cleanliness and assist with opening and closing the clinic.
+ Deliver and retrieve instruments to and from sterilization and ensure proper storage.
+ Set up operatories and prepare rooms for procedures.
+ Assist with patient scheduling and appointment confirmations.
+ Confirm that lab cases are ready for delivery.
+ Support faculty, residents, and staff with clinical procedures.
+ Prepare each operatory with adequate instrumentation and supplies.
+ Maintain inventory and ensure the clinic is stocked with necessary supplies.
+ Adhere to Infection Control Protocol and maintain appropriate attire and eye wear.
+ Perform sterilization duties and ensure all instruments are properly cleaned and stored.
Essential Skills
+ Proficient in X-ray and radiography.
+ Graduate of a Dental Assistant program.
+ Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
+ Experience in chair setup and patient scheduling.
+ Minimum two years of dental assisting back office experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED required.
+ Dental Assistant Certification preferred.
Work Environment
The Dental Assistant will work in the School of Dentistry, which features about 100 chairs. This is a fast-paced environment, seeing approximately 8-10 patients per day. The schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some days starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 4:30 PM. Fridays will close at 2:00 PM. The role involves chair-side assisting with dental students, helping with sterilization, scheduling, and maintaining inventory.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
