Under the dentist's supervision, Dental Assistants perform medical and administrative skills to dental caregivers and support patients. A caregiver in this position works 7:30 am - 5:00 pm. **Responsibilities:** + Assists with performing assessments and treatments. + Performs diagnostic radiographs. + Obtains alginate impressions for diagnostic and/or intra-oral appliances. + Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned. + Maintains dental equipment and medical supplies, including sterilizing instruments, reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting. + Maintains examination areas. + Works in clinical and operating room settings as needed. + Other duties as assigned. **Education:** + High School Diploma or GED required. + Knowledge and understanding of the dental management of medically compromised patients to include cardiology, oncology, hematology and infectious disease patients. **Certifications:** + Must be state certified as a Dental Assistant Radiographer. + Specific certification required is dependent on assigned area. + Basic Life Support (BLS) required. **Complexity of Work:** + Must have the ability to be compassionate to patients who are under physical or emotional stress. + Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. + Must be able to work in a stressful and fast paced environment. **Work Experience:** + Up to two years of dental assisting experience preferred **Physical Requirements:** + Must be able to ambulate patients for x rays and to dental chair. + Dexterity sufficient to operate CRT/PC and other office equipment. + Ability to work while standing the majority of work day. + Requires frequent data entry, lifting patients, pushing/pulling over 75 pounds, sitting, squatting, standing and walking. + Must possess manual dexterity to pass instrumentation, hand mix impression material and stone / plaster, use applicator gun to express impression gun, trimming casts as well as operate PC. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
