**Job Title: Deck Electrician (Previous NNS DE Experience) $140 per diem for days worked**
**Job Description**
The Deck Electrician must have three (3) or more years of experience in the electrical field, specifically in marine applications.
**Responsibilities**
+ Read and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, schematics, and work packages.
+ Work independently with proper instruction.
+ Use basic electrical meters and test instruments proficiently (volt-ohm meter, clamp-on ammeter, insulation resistance testers, etc.).
+ Perform general deck electrician tasks such as laying off and mounting electrical equipment and wireways, installing cable penetrations in equipment, bulkheads, and decks, cable installation, cable terminations, and cut-in and hook-up.
+ Utilize basic electrician hand tools proficiently (pliers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, connector crimping tools, etc.).
+ Physically climb vertical and inclined stairs and ladders, crawl, bend, stoop, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.
**Essential Skills**
+ Three (3) or more years of experience in the electrical field – Marine applications.
+ Ability to read and interpret shipboard electrical installation drawings, wiring tables, schematics, and work packages.
+ Proficiency in the use of basic electrical meters and test instruments.
+ Proficiency in the use of basic electrician hand tools.
+ Physical ability to climb vertical and inclined stairs and ladders, crawl, bend, stoop, work at heights, and work in confined spaces.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in marine electrical applications.
+ Proficiency in electrical testing and terminations.
+ Experience with cable installation.

**Work Environment**
Work will be performed in a shipyard located in Southeast Virginia, which spans over 5 miles long. The environment can be very hot and muggy during the summer and cool in the winter. All tasks will be carried out on a Navy vessel or in a shop environment. Candidates must be able to work any shift, with 1st shift running from 7am-3:30pm, 2nd shift from 3:30-11pm, and 3rd shift from 11pm-7am.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $21.36 - $27.31/hr.
